21k FROM NEW 3500S for sale - TOTALLY RUST FREE - UNWELDED BASE UNIT.
Please read following information - it is a very accurate description.
1) Late model - registered March 1977.
2) Brasilia - beige cloth - brown vinyl - sundym - power steering.
3) Last on road 1989 and dry stored (mostly) since.
4) The long term owner removed outer panels and stripped them of paint they are all TOTALLY RUST FREE - but have light surface rust from storage.
5) Doors (in paint) still on car - as are - roof - bonnet - boot (wings - valances - cover sills are off the car) all glass - interior - running gear intact.
6) The intended restoration stalled in 1989 and car moved between various garages since until i purchased in 2014.
7) TOTALLY RUST FREE - UNWELDED BASE UNIT - all usual problem areas are visible as 'naked' of wings and outer cover sills.
8) NO accident damage.
9) Totally complete - except - rear valance - steel wheels.
10) I have the original unmarked S trims (no nuts)
11) Car sits on vitesse alloys (previous owner fitted purely to keep car mobile)
12) Chrome good - but NOT - perfect.
13) NEVER REPAIRED OR RESTORED - will require - assembly - paintwork - mechanical recommissioning - and - ALL - the usual works associated with long term storage.
14) When I purchased car - March 2014 - I checked engine and it was totally free -
Really clean internally - not black and gritty on the rocker shafts.
The engine had fresh oil / filter / plugs / points / cap etc and spun over to build oil pressure.
The engine started easily with no tappet rattle and is 'sewing machine' quiet with excellent oil pressure...BUT - AFTER 30 SECONDS RUNNING BLEW THE FILTER OIL SEAL.
A SECOND NEW FILTER WAS FITTED - SAME RESULT - CONCLUSION - PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE OR SPRING SIEZED - no further work undertaken.
15) The car is currently dry stored away from my home address and is - EXACTLY - the condition described above (it rolls freely)
16) WHY IS THE CAR FOR SALE ? I have collected too many cars and need to rationalise..... Roverwise my GAN project will be retained (and completed !!)
17) PLEASE **serious interest only**
PRICE
£1,750.00 FIRM for an extremely straight forward and worthwhile project.
pm in first instance please.

Just to clarify,
Several enquiries expressing interest in 'parts'.
This is NOT a parts car !
Just a very straight forward - zero rust - low mileage - light restoration.

A few pictures taken earlier today - car is tight to access - but give a good indication on condition.

As original description - possibly a unique opportunity - to create one of the best P6's.

Hi Mark.
That is going to be a great car when done, i would love it but like you have to many projects!
Just a note on these late reg V8s, my friend had a late 1977 3500 auto on R reg, when i last tuned engine found that cylinder heads had the late type long reach spark plugs like the SD1.
He said that there had been no engine repairs done on car,is it poss that rover fitted later heads on the last line p6s?
Did you ever take plugs out of yours?

Clive.

Hi Clive,
I thought this might be the case on this car - but when I fitted new plugs but they are short reach.

**UPDATE**
The car is provisionally sold (longstanding forum member) pending payment and collection.
