Owner of 3.5S HOS 688K for 30 years. Bought in 1987 with a lot of rust in usual places and restored. Been on the road for most of the 30 years. Retired recently so now decided to remove engine and gearbox for look see. Some oil leaks to attend to and usual gearbox problems to investigate. Engine and box removed today so looking forward to clean up of engine compartment and maintenance of power plant. Possible renew front springs and some steering joints.
Picture taken last year on run to Ardnamurchan.

Peninsula on the West coast of Scotland. Fairly remote with single track road up to Kilchoan where there is a ferry across to Tobermorry on the island of Mull.

Hello Graham.
Im in the same niche as yourself. -'Old Bloke" with a P6.
I bought mine new in '72. We need to start an old farts blog. There's a few of us on here .
I might use it as a coffin one day .
Welcome and I like what you've got. Tobacco always looks good when its been loved.

Hi Gerald
Yeh its not as easy getting down and under the car now. Lots of aches and pains that weren't there 10-15 years ago when I did rear suspension. Luckily have a cousin who has a workshop and lift so makes things easier.
Should be out your way later this year as son and family emigrated last year to daughter -in-laws family farm in Carterton(near Masterton)

If you get up the Auckland - I ll have a wine/beer with you.
Stay in touch
Carterton is gorgeous . You'll probably end up an overstayer.

Hi Gerald
Noticed you had'Tobacco' above. Colour is Mexico brown. This was original but had it resprayed with a polyurethane acrylic enamel after my restoration in 1988.This corresponded to ROV 801 Mexico Brown.

Good to see another p6 in the central belt.

I did the ardnamurchan ferry a few years ago, great way to arrive in Tob. funny watching people try to reverse on the ferry though.

I think it was the MV Loch Linnhe that was being used the day I was there which is a RORO. Probably CALMAC have updated ferry due to increase in popularity.
Passed a P6 in EK a couple of days ago. Didn't get details but looked smart. Lunar Grey I think.

Not sure who the Lunar grey one belongs too. There are a lot of P6 kicking about, I spotted an early 2000 on my way home from work the other day, never seen it before.

Calmac ferries are really busy now thanks to the road equivalent tariff (RET) it is so cheap to take the car people do and choke the roads up.

They have bigger boats on in the summer on most routes or extra sailing. I think we were on MV Rassay which is like a navy landing craft.

Hope to see your car out and about when you have it back on the road.

Colin
