Hello,
I am Marc and a proud owner of a 1964 time warp P6 that wants to fire again after 29 years in the garage.
Engine is not seized nor is the gearbox.
Steering box had it though.
Will post next stages of the back on the road adventure!

:cool:steering wheel 10/10 Marc:D, love that mate!! body looks 10/10 as well actually , what happened to Steering Box then?

Presumably due to lack of oil and a bold move on the wheel, a ball or 2 broke and all the others escaped the seating.

great explanation on the steering box, so what are you going to do Marc, new one or Repair?

Hi Falkor :
I am not sure yet : 1. whether this can be repaired at all and 2. Is mine fit for a repair?
I will start in depth inspections and removals after the summer and will post pictures and most likely seek advice in the appropriate section...

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the chassis number. Yours is one of the earliest surviving LHD P6s. If you add your car into all early surviving P6s - RHD and LHD - there are probably less than 35 older surviving cars.

The early cars are very different from even the 1965 cars. They were much more hand-built, and are more of a drivers' car.

Well done on saving her.

Whaoouh, thanks a lot for the insight, I had no idea of how early this car actually is. I am also a Land Rover Series owner and for these we use CalVin service to get identification on year, market etc. based on Vin number. What reference do you use for P6's?

Welcome Marc!

Fabulous Rover that you have there!

I know that you will have a very enjoyable time on the Classic Rover Forum.

Ron.

Marc -welcome . That P6 of yours has created quite a stir. A lot of interest in its future. Well done.

Hi Marc,

You can order a Heritage Certificate from the British Motor Museum - as they hold the original records:
Heritage Certificates for your Classic Car

They are expensive, but if you visit in person, you can view them for free

The P6 was launched in October 1963. The 403 series (like yours) was LHD export, was produced from around February 1964, with 40300002A being the Geneva show car, and that was built in Feb64, registered in Apr64.

You can also look for a copy of James Taylor's Rover P6 book. The original is from the 90s, there was an update a few years ago, but a major update will hopefully be released next year.

Johan Lowik of the Dutch club has one of the earliest 403 cars as well. He's also a great source for parts in Europe.

Good day,
Another week and it's D day : Will travel 500 Kms with a RR Sport and a trailer to finally collect the P6 and drive it to a freshly tidied up garage :p
After inspection the plan is to drive over to UK before chaos and bring back a boot load of parts to start the back on the road exercise.
I therefore have a couple of questions :
Where can I source of workshop manual and parts manual (either soft of paper)
Which parts vendors in UK are worth looking at?
Thanks a lot for your views and advice

love the look of the car, its patina and the garage are a close match.;)

Looks very good and quite original. A rare find. It's also unusual to see the yellow French headlights nowdays, I've hardly seen any actually in use in France for many years now. Any idea what the switch on the far left is for?

in looking at the car and trailer picture, is the trailer the tilting/lowering type.
the hitch area looks like it could bend and tilt for loading?
Peter
nice to see one Rover giving another a helping hand.....;)
