I am yet another year older. Hooray.
I'd go for a celebratory drive, but my P6 is not working. The carbs have been sent off for a refurbishment, but the carrier hasn't actually managed to deliver them to the right place yet, leaving me speaking to friendly customer service representatives in far flung lands, after interminably long waits on hold with ghastly light jazz background muzak. I'm not going to list all the other things wrong with my car here.
Post pics of your working, shiny, well maintained P6 Rovers!

Happy to oblige! (although it is presently in my garage waiting for me to fill the gearbox so not technically 'working')

Absolutely fabulous! Did you buy white stripe tyres, or did you have the stripes painted on? Glad you haven't mounted chrome trim rings.

My SUs have arrived at the carb doctor, despite UPS having left the valuable parcel with neighbours, a day late, without leaving a note or anything for the intended recipient. Good thing he knows the names of his neighbours, and they're nice folk. I won't use that delivery company ever again. Still just under two hours left for you all to cheer me up with more photos of your functional well maintained P6s... ;) I know, I should get out more.

Well I can’t do functioning P6 right now, but I can do shiny lol. I just sold my set of stainless block huggers last weekend- I’m going to make something better from scratch now

Happy Birthday Al!

Cheers Jim! Good brew, that. Those shiny block huggers look great! Look forward to seeing your improvement! Did the ones in your pics bolt up to standard down pipes? I quite fancy some of them, I have to admit. I can't actually weld, but I reckon those welds look pretty sweet!

Thanks ChrisW, Keynsham, Jim Corazon and Steve VDV. Yesterday was a bit of a NADA party! I have a bit of a hang over today.
Fortunately my carburettors eventually made it to the intended destination late yesterday, so I slept well. I won't be using UPS again, that's for sure.
I wish there were somewhere I could send myself for dismantling, deep cleaning and careful refurbishment... I fear new old stock components for my human chassis are obsolete.

I think these were an EBay item a few months back, not kicking ‘Em, look amazing

The tyres were bought with the stripe. I decided to get the 1" white band which is bigger than my old tyres, to give some definition to the wheel and avoid making it just look like a big black disc. I really like the way it looks now! I had considered the trim rings, which look OK with non whitewall tyres, but only because the last set of Magstars I had I painted myself so the damage to the paint fitting them didn't really matter. These are powder coated so would be destroyed by the trim ring locating teeth!!

Thanks TRM. Looks like you got yourself a fairly solid early base unit there. Not too much tin worm, you've caught it before it has progressed too far. Looking forward to your updates.
Jim, you spent some time on those, didn't you!
TokyoP6B, how are you doin' fella? How's your P6 project? On ice?

Thanks JP. Looks like the boot isn't closed properly, and the aerial needs lifting off the roof, but other than those minor gripes, that's a good lookin' set of wheels you've got there sir.

I'd be very happy with that too, were it not for my being a griping curmudgeon on Monday mornings. ;)
