    Rear door pull handle

Hi, was the door pull handle come arm rest we were after. Think he has found one, but don't know. Will find out. Wanted it for a Lotus Elan as they are the same. Cheers, Rob

    Auto box strange noises

Not as expensive as I thought it might be. Hopefully we never need one! Cheers.

    Auto box strange noises

Can do without the work right now anyway. Don't know where I would go to get a plate? Lucky for him though as he's booked in to a car rally thingy on Sunday. The design and laser cutting however was not cheap, but a quick and easy fix. Happy customer too, even on Friday 13th!! Bet if ours starts...

    Auto box strange noises

Got the car sorted. On getting it on the lift, immediately noticed the starter was loose on its bolts. The 3 mil plastic sheet spacers he had made for the starter had squashed a bit and the starter gear was contacting the ring gear sometimes, making the noise. Laser cut him a proper metal...

    Auto box strange noises

Thanks for that. Will take the starter out anyway and check the return spring on the solenoid while it's out. Our car did make a similar noise when our starter was less than perfect. He did have trouble when he first fit a new starter, with it not clearing the ring gear. He had a spacer plate...

    Auto box strange noises

Where do they crack and can it be seen through the starter hole? Cheers for the replies.

    Auto box strange noises

Just come back from a show in my mates P6 2000 auto. Noticed on roundabouts and when setting off, a strange rattling scraping racket coming from the box we assume? Not had a look yet. Does it on start up as well. Sounds like the starter not returning, but don't think so. Low on oil? or is it...

What's the best way to power an electric fuel pump?

I may be corrected, but I thought the Facet pumps shown in the picture were all 'pushers' and meant for fitting with gravity feed to the inlet? We have fitted quite a few of these to rally cars and all have been at the rear of the car. Agree with post regarding the pressure, these pumps are...

Extra dash with rev counter and clock

Hi all, just wondered if anyone knows if the extra bit of dash on the early cars with the rev counter and clock in goes under the same 'bubble' in the top dash pad as the original clock on the cars with the ribbon type speedo. Probably won't find one to fir anyway, but just wondered? First car...

    2000 Head replacement

Hi Terry, if you don't have a suitable timing light, a way to check if the advance weights are not seized up in the dissy is just remove the cap, grab hold of the rotor arm and turn it. You should be able to feel the springs working against you. If the rotor is solid, the advance weights could...

    2000 Head replacement

Just a thought. did you check you are getting advance on the timing when revs go up. If you have a strobe that can be altered to the setting you want, set it to what the advance should be at the given revs. I think the TC should advance to around 25-30 deg at about 25-2900rpm. with the vac...

    AC to ACR conversion

My original post was to fit an ACR to a 4 pot NOT a V8. The pulleys will not line up on a 4 pot if anyone is thinking of a conversion.

Changes to the use of number plates.

Our old girl had black ones on when we got it. The original dealer reflective ones were in the boot, with the full size rear plate. I think they look better and break up the back of our dark green car. Black and silver ones now have pride of place in the boot.

    2000 Head replacement

Agree with the post regarding giving it a good run. Better on a dual carriageway than around the streets. Our SC exhaust clearances were a bit tight. Luckily we had to take the head off for the oil leak problem, so sorted them at the same time. We bought a Lotus Elan that had been stood for a...
