I'm in awe, after years of seeing many claims and desires of people wanting to do this, somebody is doing it
It's quite a brutal cut isn't it to start with! Will the rear doors still be fully functional with the arches split to allow opening?
I've got a bit of gash 3mm steel hammered round for my trigger mount which is similar length to what you need. It only picks up on one bolt, and works fine hence still being a chunk of gash hammered 3mm steel :D
I think yours is a series 2 so should be part way there. Series 1 P6's I believe have much less in common with their V8 counterparts.
There should be a few mysterious indents in the crossmember that will match up with the V8's oil filter position. The 2000 engine mounts can be drilled and...
I thought it was taller to start with! On my SD1 I've got a spare 2.88 Powerlock and combination of 4HA axle cases which one day would be nice to fit, and with a little ratio tweak to the R380 gearbox my calculations indicate 2000rpm at 70mph in 5th
Question away, I winged it along when...
LT77 and 2.88, that'll be a real long distance cruiser!
Good luck with the Megasquirt, I had mine pre-loaded with a RV8 base map and the stepper motor already configured so it was really down to sorting out my own wiring faults and fine tuning the mismatched injectors that took the time :(
Excellent stuff, you're making nice quick progress :)
What's the open/closed length of the rear coilovers? I take it they are mounted on the standard damper mounting points?
Does it scrape the underside when driving? I'm going to be welding a few sacrificial plates to the bottom of my...
I've got a set of Chevy small truck steel wheels on mine, but they required serious amounts of work to fit.
I think standard American steel wheels from base model Buick's etc of the 60's may just fit with minimal of massaging of the rear D-post, I could be wrong as they generally have a large...
I've been dragged into stuff with mates where they've 'seen something on the internet' and decided to have a go themselves, and made a right dogs dinner of it all. There are a hell of a lot of people I wouldn't trust to pick up the tools, and some of them do it professionally....
Secret because the method would most likely be condemned for being dangerous such is the reputation of front spring removal ;)
You've pretty much described it how I'd remove them, but I don't have a hydraulic ram, just a few wobbly trolley jacks....
Bad news about the engine, but now all good being that you know what's in there!
I'm waiting for my seats to end up like yours, the centres of the bases are pulling apart, luckily the back hasn't started to go yet.
