Cover sills - what colour?

I am currently assembling my Monza 3500 s and i wonder what colour the cover sills should have. I know they shold be black, but should they be matt or shiny black, or something inbetween? Maybe I could use some chassis black in a spraycan? I have some solid 2k partly matt black I got for the engine bay, maybe thats suitable. If anyone has the answer please tell me, cause I want it to be correct.

Would epoxy mastic act as satin black I wonder. That would be much tougher than 2k. Any experience with this?

Epoxy mastic does not like sunshine. I'd use Simoniz satin black from their tough paint range. Good hard paint.

Epoxy will be chalky after 1 summer. I know this for a reason....

Use epoxy as a primer and then topcoat with Simoniz tough black satin.

They will be some tough sill covers, they'll likely survive an apocalypse
Good choice of words you mentioning epoxy going chalky after Chalky mentioning it was uv unstable :D

I am an unashamed epoxy advocate but I'm aware of its limits. The brushable stuff you can get these days is incredible and even looks good if you go over it with a roller. Anyone caught using underseal in 2017 should be severely dealt with IMHO!

I use the Simoniz tough black because it gives a nice even "factory" finish from the spray can more than anything, it is easy to get hold of and doesn't have UV issues. The tough part is helpful of course.

This comes up with a google and is quite representative of a well prepared surface:
