Hey everyone,

Been having issues with trying to figure out what year my car is from? The chassis number is 41600709 B and the engine number is 4160554 D. Can you figure them out from those numbers?

Regards
Jack

That's a low number, so my guess would be 67/68.

Probably '68 - my TC with numbers 41509268B/41515066B came out of supplying dealership in Essex on 10/08/1967, but I dont know whether the numbering was continuous or maybe had an annual component to define it.

416 commission numbers were RHD Export 2000TC.

They started 41600001 in April 1966 and ran to 41603231 in Sep 1970, ie 3231 cars over four and a half years. A guess, but probably very late '66 - mid '67.

Oh, and a 416 engine is a 9:1 CR 2000TC, 10:1 TCs started 415.

Gidea Park Motors in Main Road. I don't think it was a Main Dealership.
It's a Majestic Wine outlet now!
I have a copy of the sales invoice.

Why don't you just ask the British Motor Museum, as they hold all of the production records?

Hi Jack, where was the car exported to? My TC which also starts with 416 was exported to Malta in August 69 but constructed around June /July. Here in Malta there were instances were servicemen stationed here would purchase a car locally and when their stint ends, drive it back to their next posting, more often than not UK.

Gidea Park ( Motors)Limited, was a dealer , not a distributer according to my old list Rover Dist. & Dealers ( 5th Edition). Telephone Number was 66

Hey Richard, sorry for the slow response, been a bit busy lately with exams, I am going to have a shot and say that it is an Australian export, however the guy who previously owned it did come from England and may have bought it from somewhere else.

Thanks,
Jack

where are you based? Australia? what was the fuel situation in Australia in the late 60s early 70s since low compression engines were exported to areas where 4 star fuel was the highest available.
