Dash screws - tip

I have been removing and refitting the tacho a lot today, as it jumps about a bit and I have been playing with a multi meter. The three screws that hold it in are a real pain to get started when you have tiny dainty fingers like mine aren't

So, I remembered from a long long time ago, I used to use a small piece of tubing (1/4" - 6mm) on the end of a screwdriver which held the screw and allowed me to locate it easily. This is probably a well known trick but I thought I would share it for those who still struggle with those pesky little blighters :)

I thought that I had reinvented the wheel this week, I used the very same method to locate a screw to the door frame under the 1/4 light window, when
reinstalling the window frame with new felt channels and lifter support bar....
seems there is nothing new in our world of old cars?

Another trick I discovered by way of a mate who is a motorcycle mechanic is to put 2 turns of Plumber's Tape
around screws that hold bodywork on. The tape stops them winding out with vibration....
