Sunshine On My Shoulder Makes Me Happy....!

are the bonnet scoops fake or real, as in letting in cooling air to the turbo charger, or perhaps, concealing machine guns, a la James bond style?
BTW...looks a lovely car and the scenery is the same...:) but be very careful, people over there drive on the wrong side of the road, even at night....

Factory scoops as found on NADA 3500S. Center scoop fed a RamAir induction to the carbs while the heat generated in the V8 was dissipated by the two side scoops with ability to be closed for cool weather or opened in warm weather. RamAir no longer needed as the old beauty has a 4-bbl Holley. Scoops remain a lively subject of conversation and a love/hate exists with current Roverphiles.

nice to be made aware the scoops actually have a function and not just for show. personal taste would put me off those though as looks like the sort of thing kids? would do to soup up or make his car look 'cool'.
still everybody has own ideas of taste. much like fitting spoilers on boot etc one persons idea of cool or good can be another persons idea of awful. ( even if having a function)

Hi Old Bloke. Nice photos. Say, when you switched over to the 4 barrel Holley set-up, did you retain the original RamAir bits'n'pieces? I am looking for a good rubber gasket for the 'snorkel' that extends from the air filter to the underside of the bonnet, mating with the long central scoop. Mine is very tatty and perished. If you had a good one for sale I would be delighted to give it a new home. The piece I mean retains the mesh screen and sits just above the two carbs. Mine is sagging down like melted cheese. :(

Yep, got 'em, but are you sure you need the screen or just the rubber seal? Mine is serviceable, but torn in a couple of places...?Rover RamAir Seal (1).jpeg

Hi Old Bloke. That's the item! Any chance of a snapshot of the other side? I don't care so much about tears on the underside, it is the upper surface that is really letting the side down in my engine bay! I made my own mesh from a stainless steel kitchen sieve, using the original metal frame.

Thanks... but no thanks. It is basically in the same state as mine. I do hope I didn't put you to too much trouble. Thanks very much for taking the time. I wonder what it is that digs those scuff marks, which are the same as on my item? They don't seem to correspond with the underside of the bonnet, it has me perplexed! Enjoy motoring in the Napa Valley and keep those nice photo updates of your journeys coming!
