Engine parts

I do (and I'm supposed to be cleaning up; so here are the results...) Nominal main journals 2 1/4" width 1 11/32" Nominal crank pin diameter 1 7/8"
They are for the 100 engine. They are from the 60 - 75 - 80 - 90 - 100 - 105 workshop manual so no data for 110 and the 100
(and 80 OHV unit) is an orphan with its own section. The 100 (6)and 60 (4) both use the P5 bore; the 100 has 3.625 stroke while the 60 is the same across the group above at 4.134" (105mm). For some unknown reason the figures are in a mix of Inches, metricated inches and straight metric...

Didn't you SA chaps put the twin carb 2.6 OHC engine in Land Rovers? Maybe it will match up to a P4 bell housing?

PS> With Regard Thread size try BSF British standard Fine. Which is the whitworth equivelant of UNF. The Thread Form is the same but the pitch is different. E.G. 7/16 BSW is 14 TPI while 7/16 BSF is 18 TPI

I just checked the P4 parts cattledog to see what size they should be but they are listed as "special bolt" ...bugger.

We did have the 6 OHV fitted to Landies, it was mostly for the Army and is designated the R6.
I have located a supplier of Whitworth nuts and bolts, so that will be sorted out. Owner has now decided to sell it, so I am saddled with getting my money from the new owner whenever that happens....:rolleyes:

Thread form is actually different. UNF is 60 degree thread angle and BSF 55 degrees. I believe Unified has truncated crests and Whitworth radiuses. As the pitches are significantly different , one shouldn't have too much difficulty differentiating between them, but I have seen nuts forced on !
 
OOPs poor english on my part, I was referring to the Whitworth (BSW) and BSF threads. Yes the bottom and top of the UN threads are flat. It was intended to make machining simpler. They do rust on like Metric though. Whitworth doesn't as a rule.
 
So, it turns out the main caps are 7/16" UNF and the big end nuts are a 24TPI NON-3/8"UNF special thread affair.
After much to and fro, with suggestions going as far as M9X1, I discovered the Rover 3.5/3.9 V8 big end nuts fit perfectly.
I got all 12 nuts off a dead engine for less than a Tenner, as opposed to the GBP4.35 EACH I was quoted...

The 3l oil pump is the same as the Landy 2.6, as is the split rear main seal, head gasket etc, so commonality is quite widespread.
