3.9ltr, 1992 Range Rover block into P6 V8, How easy?

I converted my P6 to Hotwire and found that the plenum top did touch the bonnet soundproofing. I placed a piece of gaffa tape sticky side up on the front of the plenum, then carefully closed the bonnet - when I opened the bonnet it was stuck to the soundproofing.

I dropped into a local engine shop and had them skin 6mm (1/4" to us some us :) ) off the jointing face (can't remember whether it was the upper or lower bit) but it does now clear ok, the gaffa tape stays on the plenum.

Thanks, one problem solved. Next - how did you arrange the fuel supply and return line from the pressure regulator? Placement of pump, return line entry to tank ? Was there a plenum that size without numbers on it ? The "3.9" might make some people think I had enlarged the engine.....
thanks, very helpful.

Richard,
Thats a great thread, very informative, learned a lot, as well as admiring your skills in every direction! Many questions come to mind, but I will leave them until I start my own journey with the hopefully imminent P6B S I have my eyes on.
thanks

Can I ask which later sumps will go into a P6B chassis? The P6B seems to have a shallow front (cross member), a deep central section and a short shallow section at the back. The shallow front section is the only critical part isnt it?
thanks

It depends if it's auto or manual. The auto exhaust runs underneath the rear of the sump, so if you want to fit a sump with a deep rear well you need to change the exhaust, to the manual gearbox front pipes or similar.

Its a Manual, so there is no pipe under the rear of the sump, so a Disco sump with a deep rear should be OK. Excellent news, thanks H!
