Although they have very different engines, the Commer 2 stroke and the Detroit diesel do sound quite similar.
I would be interested to know more about the Commer engine.

 
I like my diesels the same way I like my motorbikes, two stroke! There's lots of info on the 'net about the TS3, it is a weird engine, and very small capacity. Foden made a 2 stroke diesel as well.
 
Haha, I never thought about a Detroit being a 2 stroke also.

IIRC the massive engines in ships are also 2 stroke diesels. (Although I may have dreamt that...)

The TS3 is interesting. I know someone who used to work on them. There was a TS4 prototype.
