I've placed this in Suspension/Steering because that's what the wheels are attached to…
With the two Series 1s I used to own, replacing the wheel discs was easy: just push them on. Too easy, perhaps, which was why they had a reputation for turning in situ and slicing the tyre valve, and for falling off under duress. The slightly glitzier Series 2 discs fit much more firmly, but what is the best way to fit them? Simply placing them centrally over the wheel and pushing achieves nothing, at least with the four on my car (1972 2000 TC). I've been using a leather-faced hammer to tap round the rim of the disc until it eventually seats all the way round, but it makes a noise like banging a dustbin lid which isn't appreciated when it's a late-night garage session. I'm sure there's an easier way. Any suggestions?
Thanks, John
