My driver's seat reclining mechanism failed and I purchased a second hand seat.

Unfortunately, the seat was an early model and which did not take into account my Inertia Reel Reel mechanism.

Does anyone have a suitable seat which I could purchase?

Thank you.

Ivan

Has the mechanism failed or does it simply need tightening i.e more twist in the torsion bar? And the mechanism and basic frames are all the same so you could rebuild the seat with what you have.

They are quite easy to set up, just clean everything when taking apart, and follow the instructions in the manual to reassemble.

I posted a couple of pics of mine in bits in my project thread. Not sure what you mean by not taking into account inertia reel belts?
Some of the manual directions are not that easy to follow IMHO. With the seat out take off the alloy covers, locate the the hex nut on one end of the torsion bar. If the problem is the seat doesnt lock in place, you might be able to improve that at the nut - remove the small screw that prevents the nut from turning, turn the nut a couple of flats (1/6 turn each flat), refit the little screw, check operation.

Perhaps my explanation was not clear. The reclining mechanism works perfectly.
This was a replacement driver's seat to replace a damaged original.
When fitted I found that the inertial reel snags on the seat when you attempt to slide it backwords or forwards.
The passenger seat has a chrome strip pulling the edge of the seat inwards to prevent snagging.
Baffled!

Hi, Yes I think some people have got the wrong end of the stick in what you're asking. The later seat frame under the covering has a pressed recess and the Chrome strip holds the covering into it to clear a seat belt tensioner. It would appear as you say you've got an earlier seat without the recess. To answer your question, no I don't have a seat, another solution could be getting a slimline inertia reel.

Hi Colin,
Seems a good compromise.
You can guess the next question!
Where can I purchase slimline inertial reel mechanism?
Thanks,
Ivan

interesting, cant quite visualize the problem. Will examine my seats tomorrow....74 model.

In my experience trying to fit securon in the back, it didnt go well. their belts unreel off the bottom of the reel, so they will abrade the top of the seat back. using spacers to lift the unit is not recommended - more strain on the mounting. on the near side the knob buts against the inside trim and intereferes with the mounting angle. I used a Hemco 1600051s unit( locally made in Oz) because it unreels the belt off the top of the reel, and reduces the drag on the seat back.
Dont know what make the front inertia reel units are - will report back.
My front seta against the reel...make or brand not visible.

Hope this helps, replaced the back panel on the drivers seat with one from a later series, but did not replace the passenger side.
