A few new problem with Minstrel!

Check the acorn on the bottom of the gearlever, the spherical seat that the gearlever sits in (And make sure all those parts are assembled correctly), and check for worn selector rod bushes and a worn selector striker lever.

^^^^ I've got that model Testune somewhere in the depths of my rollcab. It always worked well for me.

Need to replace exhaust manifold. Anything I should know?

The 2000 and 2200 manifolds are the same. I have seen people fit the manifold gaskets the wrong way around, but I was never quite sure how they managed it. If you can get brass nuts it will make any future dismantling easier. Bolt everything up loosely in place before tightening, and make sure...

Removal of the serie 2 tachometer

The unit can stay in place, the perspex is held by 4 large straighthead screws with felt washers behind them. Once the perspex is removed the tacho can be removed from the PCB. That is held by 3 screws IIRC.

V8 4 speed gearbox - difficulty with reverse.

That's it, the tunnel boot and its mounting plate are shown at the top and upsidedown in the illustration, when they should be the other way up and at the bottom. Very misleading, as I said.

    Rear brakes

You are supposed to have a bracket on the caliper, that the hose goes through and is held with a shakeproof washer and a locknut, before the small metal pipe fitting is screwed on to it. Once that is all in palce it will look like it should do.

    Rear brakes

The hose with the metal coil around it goes between the O/S caliper and the metal pipe on the base unit. The short end screws into the caliper with a copper washer. It fits into the upper hole on the caliper. The other one goes between the calipers, the short end screws into the lower hole on...

    Reserve tap

I've not had any problems refitting the barrel other than it being a bit tighter because of the new "O" ring. Have you removed the locating screw completely?

    floppy gear stick

Yours was assembled incorrectly then. If you put 591478 between 593617 and 591895 then the thickness of 591478 makes the spherical seat loose in the housing giving excess movement. The cutout in 591478 is superflous, but you can line it up with the groove through 593617 should you wish.

V8 4 speed gearbox - difficulty with reverse.

They are. I used to be able to post a link to the relevant page in the parts book to explain the problem, but those links no longer work. If you can scan and post the page then I will be able to do the same.

    Rvc rev counter

Search on here and there is a thread detailing how to modify the wiring to convert one type to the other. Here I think: RVI to RVC Tacho Conversion

    P6B S Project Car

Yes, once the speedo head is removed it will come out through the hole in the pcb, or move the whole unit away from the dash to avoid removing the speedo head.

V8 4 speed gearbox - difficulty with reverse.

Difficulty getting into reverse and jumping out of reverse are probably not connected. The former can be clutch spin caused by low oil level, tight spigot bearing running clearance, clutch not bled preoperly, or the clutch linkage incorrectly set. Jumping out can be caused by play in the gear...

    Temp Sender Hex?

Which is the same as 3/8" Whit, and that's definitely not 18mm...... (Back in the day it wouldn't have had anything of that size series fitted from what I remember).

    1971 TC 2000-No 2nd gear

If the rear flange retaining nut is loose you can find it crunches into second gear, as though the synchro is faulty, but this normally happens on the 3-2 downshift beacuse you are moving from one selector rod to another, and the mainshaft moves forward, defeating the synchro. The back of the...

    1971 TC 2000-No 2nd gear

Is it not going into second when changing 1-2 AND 3-2, or just 3-2? Either way you need to sort all the linkage problems before diving in too deep.

Not cheap at half the price!

I recently fitted a pair, but they are as yet untested. Biggest pain is removing/refitting the toplink, closely followed by forcing ther bush over the ball on the end of the swivel pillar pushrod because that was done without any slidy stuff to avoid the possibility of the cap sliding off the...

Not cheap at half the price!

Leave the pipes connected, leave the inner cable connected to the lever, loosen the outer cable clamp to remove the cable from that, remove the screw and pull the barrel out of the tap with the inner cable still connected to the lever. replace the seal and RITRORP
