    Modern vs Classic Tyres

Michelin offer classic tyres for the Australian market, but they are exceptionally expensive. I sought a price a year of so ago out of curiosity, $560 per tyre, say 280 Pounds each  I wasn't planning to buy any, just doing some research. XAS | Michelin Classic I use Maxxis MAP3...

your radio cassette player, what is it and why?

In Australia, radios were a dealer fitted item. My Rover originally came with a dealer fitted Blaupunkt push button radio. I threw it in the bin in 1986 when I replaced it with a high end Alpine digital cassette player with build in tuner. Subsequently that was replaced with a Clarion DVD player...

    Propshaft alignment

Yes, the angle is normal. Vibration could be from any number of suspects. Wheels and tyres out of balance, tailshaft not aligned with yoke, heavily worn or stiff universal joints, the latter resulting from the former. When did you last have your tyres changed and/or wheels balanced? Vibration...

    My first p6

Fantastic Gerald! I have never been to Western Australia, so far away. It is closer to fly from Sydney to New Zealand that flying from Sydney to Perth! The longest trains in the World are the iron ore trains of the Pilbara. I certainly agree, nothing beats the sound of a V8  Ron

    My first p6

Rover was involved in motorsport, hence the need for a more powerful engine. Different pistons raised the compression ratio to 9.75:1, waisted stem inlet valves improved gas flow. Engine power lifted from 150HP to 190HP, and the Vitesse could accelerate from 0 to 60mph in a smidge over 7 seconds...

    Anyone an expert with MATLAB?

    The matrices are actually 1 x n, hence row vectors are a more accurate description. The system characteristic - Head vector [15 16 19 24 25], Flow vector [0 0.05 0.1 0.15 0.2]. The pump characteristic - Head vector [25 24 20 14 7], flow vector [0 0.05 0.1 0.15 0.2]. The curves that I have...

    Anyone an expert with MATLAB?

Wondering if anyone can help? I am trying to determine the point of intersection of the system characteristic and the pump characteristic for a centrifugal pump. I have values for each characteristic in the form of matrices, four in total from which a pair are common to each characteristic. I...

    Saffron Rover in Western Australia!

Hi Mike, The Rover that was fitted with the Hitachi unit was a Lunar Grey 3500S, but it was more than 20 years ago when I saw it at a NSW Rover Owner's Club meeting. I have no more information other than that Mike, sorry about that. Are you a member of the Facebook Australian P5 & P6 Rover...

    Saffron Rover in Western Australia!

Lol, that is one of the locations for dealer fitted air conditioning in Australia. No glove box in front of the passenger, less leg room, and frozen to billio when the system is running full blast over Summer  I have also seen Rovers in Australia with the air conditioner mounted on...

    V8 rebuild costs

Behind the air canister there is an engine breather filter. It is normally a fuel filter positioned with the arrow pointing down into the engine. It should be changed every 18,000 miles or 3 years, which ever comes first. Blue smoke is typically from burning oil, which is either being...

    which car replaced your P6?

My Rover is the only car I have ever owned. From when I obtained my driver's license in 1985 to date, no other car has taken the place of my Rover. Some people have suggested that I put it aside and buy a modern car, but so far I have resisted their suggestions. Ron.

    Bryan Adams and my Rover

Erika likes your comment :D:cool: It can be pretty normal not to see cars in either direction for many miles. I was caught and passed by a couple of cars travelling well over the speed limit on their way (I am assuming) to the motor races in Bathurst. Ron.

    Viscous Fan

Hi Adrian, The 13 bladed nylon fan with viscous coupling were fitted as standard equipment to Rovers that were exported to 'hot' countries and locations. Australia, Middle East, Africa, Cyprus, Portugal, and New Zealand all received such cars. I advise most strongly not to attempt to fit the...

How Far Have You Driven Your P6

Probably the longest single trip would be around 1800 miles (3000km). Other distances have been shorter, but daily so accumulating. My Rover would easily have been doing 600 miles per week (1000km) for months at a time, hence my annual mileage was easily close to 30,000 (50,000km). Ron.

    Brake Pedal Pushing Back

Hi John, From having experienced exactly what you describe on more than one occasion from more than one booster, I can say without hesitation that the problem is the booster itself. Putting a new kit through it or buying an exchange unit that has been rebuilt correctly will see the problem...

    Facet Fuel Pumps

I fitted a Facet electronic fuel pump in my Rover during 1990. It continues to work to this day have travelled over 305,000 miles since that time. Mine is mounted beneath the tank at an angle as per the instructions. A fuel filter sits between the pump and the fuel tank. I also retain the...

    Difference bw35 en bw65

In Australia, the BW35 appeared behind numerous 2 and 3 litre engines, plus larger 4.1 litre Ford and 4.3 litre Valiant engines. My Rover's BW35 transmission was rebuilt to M51 specifications during 2009, and has run faultlessly (typing very quietly so it doesn't hear me haha) covering over...
