    1972 3500s P6b L/H Front Suspension Bottom Link & Bush Assembly 548057

I agree but faced with no new parts available just lay up or scrap the car? Looking deeper at the component design possibly the weakest point is the inner mounting bolt which has a smaller CSA than the strut so likely to shear first in the region of 3T load or the inner mounting brackets on...

    1972 3500s P6b L/H Front Suspension Bottom Link & Bush Assembly 548057

Please can you tell me which machinery you used? I really like the idea of the threaded adjustment but apart from reducing the OD of the strut I was concerned about obtaining total accuracy along the length/orientation of the strut without building some sort of reference point or jig for each...

    1972 3500s P6b L/H Front Suspension Bottom Link & Bush Assembly 548057

That was my original plan but I thought that to thread the uneven concentric shape would require removal of more metal plus if you allow for the OD of the core of the thread, you are possibly down to 16mm OD for the core of the thread shaft rather than the 18 to 19mm OD of the original strut.

    1972 3500s P6b L/H Front Suspension Bottom Link & Bush Assembly 548057

Continuing with the thread. I decided to convert one of the 2000/2200 models new long strut arms to have a spare to fit my V8. First using a spare LH wishbone, I removed the rubber boot and bolted an old LH V8 strut to the wishbone and spaced it out with 11.48mm thick equivalent of washers so...

    1972 3500s P6b L/H Front Suspension Bottom Link & Bush Assembly 548057

Have been replacing the lower ball joint on the vertical pillar and have a question on the L/H bottom link 548057. My 1972 3500s car came to me with two spare links L/H & R/H and 595741 & 595740 the other links that are mostly unobtainable apart from modified versions. I noticed that on the...

Front Wing 3500s Rectangular Badge Position 1972 Model

Front Wing 3500s Rectangular Badge Position 1972 Model

Thank you . So maybe 3/4” - 1” in from edge of wing and 1/2” from chrome trim. Assuming that is original position? I’m glad I just stuck mine on temporarily for now and can easily be repositioned to suit above.

Front Wing 3500s Rectangular Badge Position 1972 Model

Thanks for steering me in that brochure direction. From other photos I have estimated the badge to be positioned 1/2” in from end of wing and 1/2” from chrome trim. There are no holes existing in the wings, these were NOS stock from a number of years ago. I removed the lugs on the badges and...

Front Wing 3500s Rectangular Badge Position 1972 Model

Would anyone be able to confirm any measurements for correct placement of the front wing rectangular badges above the chrome trim? I have looked at so many photos online but keep seeing different positions for them which is causing me to doubt the position.

New Custodian of a 3500S in North Scotland

Ah well they are on now with 18mm body tape, quite a firm hold and easy and stress free to fit compared to a couple of months ago when I fitted the Imp body chrome trims which I drilled and fitted the plastic clips for. Easier to maintain a straight seam free line.

New Custodian of a 3500S in North Scotland

5 years later and I still have not fitted the chrome strips, but am tempted to do so now, however although I have all the clips at hand I am reluctant to start drilling holes in the panels. Was thinking if anyone has used Tiger seal instead or double sided body tape, perhaps a little rough but...

    Two V8's Aberdeenshire

Its still lying outside a commercial garage in Fyvie, Aberdeenshire , i just saw it just last week. The garage owner has probably about 20 or 30 other 70’s classics that never move. They never sell any of them or would consider breaking as far as i can tell, and tbh are not very helpful...

3500s Clutch Pedal Height - Stop

My clutch pedal over the last couple of years has been eventually getting higher and higher relative to the brake pedal until the point yesterday when it started to strike the accelerator pedal crossshaft. The clutch works the same as it always did, it’s just there is a lot more movement until...

    Special PAS Nut Wanted

I just had a look around and can’t find anymore 15/16” A/F bolt heads, perhaps a 24mm A/F bolt head would work but I don’t have either to sample and confirm if the bolt shaft would be suitable and have a diameter of 0.625” or more to turn it down?

Seized clutch. Any long term damage?

Slightly neater than the spare LT77 bell housing I had where someone had attacked it with a lump hammer. Wish I hadn’t skipped it after finding out trying to obtain a replacement was quite expensive.

Seized clutch. Any long term damage?

Some photos of the slot and the piece of box section held alongside the clutch slave arm. Perhaps someone has added in the slot in the gearbox at one time, but boy was it handy. The angle of the box section is held towards the arm as it is angled, sorry but was difficult to hold and take photo...

    Lt77 conversion requirements

This prop shaft alignment thing was bugging me, so I eventually found the alignment mark highlighted in green after a little investigation. 1st photo shows the rear arrow aligns with the front arrow. The photo shows it slightly off but it is just the camera lens distorting things. The second...

Seized clutch. Any long term damage?

After having tried all the usual methods to free off my clutch which I’m sure is not too good for the drivetrain, these last few years when storing over winter I have held the clutch pedal down and placed a piece of 1” x 1” long square box section between the slave arm and the alloy gearbox...

    LT77 5 Speed Overhaul

Well I have spent way too much money and hours rebuilding the 5 speed box, including sourcing all the parts, but I’m at a stage now where I am beginning to think it is such a shame to remove the old original 4 speed box, and in order to preserve the cars original character I have parked the idea...
