Well i fired it up today and she's running 100%. All in including my own mistakes and all postage costs it finished off at 400 euro. Cheap as chips.....

Quite possible . The battered one is the one i removed from the transmission . I turned down a sleeve and pressed it into the larger one.

I was correct about the forward clutch piston being the problem. The one supplied had too large a inner diameter hole. So i have fixed the problem now and will have the box in again tomorrow. And it will be driving out of the garage.

I fixed the bands in the correct positions. Changed all the seals on sun gear . I have it running nice in reverse only. no forward gears . I will replace the forward clutch piston i think. it all that's left to do now and it does seem very tight.

The rear band strut was fine as it was still in place when i removed the valve chest. I am thinking that the front clutch piston might have a faulty one way valve also but i haven't looked at that yet

Removed the transmission again and found the rear band snapped??Will see if i can get warranty on it on monday.

Yes I agree will check the a few more times. i didn't measure anything as there was good oil in the torque converter already, but i will run and check levels again. cheers

I didn't replace the sealing rings . And the did seem to be the same diameter as the shaft , would a good set of seals be a slightly larger dia? All the pipes are fitted snug. when i tapped them in they made a different noise when fitted all the way in. Didnt measure the float end of the input...

not sure aprox 4-5 litres. filled it than ran it through all the gears , dipped and topped up then ran again. And repeated again until dipstick had oil level correct.

I had come to that conclusion also. 4 of the 6 bolt holding the gearbox to the bellhousing look easy to remove. The other 2 on the bottom are very tight to the sump. i might weld a socket onto a dogleg type bar to remove.
