Someone's enormous collection of classics and parts is being auctioned on the 7th of March in Herefordshire (I think). "Our" cars start around page 3. All very rough looking.
Vintage And Classic Cars To Include Many Ford Mk I’s & ... (07 Mar 20)
Spotted last night heading towards Penrhyndeudraeth from Beddgelert direction. I was in mine but just off the road so probably unnoticed.
Anyone on here?
A white Series 2 passed me on the Menai suspension bridge yesterday around 5pm. Anyone from here? I waved but think he was too busy looking at the bridge to notice my Mexico brown 2000TC heading in the opposite direction.
This is always a good show with a wide range of different exhibits. The classic car section seems to grow every year.

I'll pop along for a mooch. Anyone else thinking of attending?
... you'd risk using on a 240mile round trip to drop your daughter at the airport for a 4am check-in.
Apart from thick fog hiding the sign to Terminal 3, all went smoothly. Averaged 60mph and didn't need to stop for fuel.
How has your P6 impressed you lately?
I'm just trying out the new Gallery feature so have uploaded an image and am now embedding it into this thread.
You should be able to see a yellow scrawl on the underside of a bootlid. Has anyone ever made sense of these?
I received nice cheery waves from the driver and passengers yesterday evening in Snowdonia. Nice Paprika car with black vinyl roof. Anyone on here?
I was in my black P4 heading in the opposite direction.
Hello everyone,
The rubber seal, held in a channel which runs horizontally above the rear wheel, then dips at the back... only visible once the rear wing is removed...
Useless mud trap or valuable original detail? What's the consensus?
I don't remember ever revealing one that wasn't supporting...
'Morning all,
Just wondered if anyone can recommend a valve lapping tool? I need to grind in the valves of a P4 6 cylinder engine that needs a decoke and a couple of exhaust valves replacing. The thought of doing them all with the usual stick & suckers doesn't appeal much.
Is the Gunson Eezilap...
Well that was quite a day. Number 1 daughter delivered to uni in the 2000TC. Round trip of 420 miles; nine hours driving and it didn't miss a beat. How many other 43 year old classics could manage that?
I have a feeling I've done something wrong...
My 2000TC burnt an exhaust valve last week so I took the head off, had the seat (which was savable) and a spare valve recut and refitted them this weekend. All straightforward enough.
As I'd been meaning to switch to HIF6 carbs for a while, I decided...
Someone on Facebook is selling a tidy looking 3500S. I wondered if anyone here knows the car?
It's bright red with a black vinyl roof and is in the Sheffield area.
Google comes up with this photo taken in 2010:
FBU 650K - 1971 Rover P6 3.5 V8
A nice chap came over for a chat last night when he saw me in the P6. He told me that a friend of his has one (not sure if V8 or 4-cyl) that's been sitting for years in Bridgenorth, Shropshire but might yield some useful spares. He described the bodywork and interior as bad. The owner wants it...
The 2000TC I resurrected after it had been sitting unused for 15 years has a rather notchy gearchange. A few times it's been difficult to select any gear while cold, then fine for the rest of the day. Yesterday I tried to start the car to drive home from the Cropredy Festival where it had been...
What method do you guys recommend for removing the float bowls (for cleaning) off HS8 carbs? More specifically, how do you deal with the flexible pipe? Undoing the sleeve nut and pulling it out of the bottom of the bowl makes it very fiddly to replace. Doing this the other evening after the rear...
What do you recommend for sticking the rocker cover gasket to the rocker cover?
6 months ago I treated my engine to one of Wins' 'improved' rubber rocker cover gaskets, and fitted it with a smear of Blue Hylomar. I was very unimpressed with the fit which took a couple of goes to get it in...

"factory rebuilt Rover 2000 engine that has never been fitted and is still in its original wooden crate with tags and labels still on it from 1981"
So did the factory plaster them in paint, right over the rocker cover, the oil pump and everything?
I'm still in the thinking stage of a 5-speed conversion for my 2000TC and noticed that Mazda MX-5 gearboxes are extremely cheap and plentiful. Just wondered if anyone knows anything at all about them? They appear have a good reputation for longevity and a superb gearchange and are very compact...
Among the teething troubles of UEY was the usual difficulty bleeding the clutch hydraulics followed by an annoying tendency to draw in air after a few miles. This turned out to be the flexible pipe's lower connection, but before realising that I stripped down the new slave cylinder to check the...
UEY - the 2000TC that I've just put back on the road has a rather worrying vibration coming in at around 40mph.
So far I've driven it around 10 miles to the MOT centre and back yesterday during which I noticed some vibration and assumed it was a driveshaft UJ. It could be felt through the brake...
If anyone needs to know what to check for, my project P6's DeDion elbows were a bit dodgy:
This one didn't actually look too bad until I removed the opposite side and the weight of the tube showed up this weakness.
One side had been massively welded. Seeing the condition of the lower link...
I could do some advice please.
My 1972 2000TC started smelling of petrol after filling the tank. Initially it only lingered for a short while but has suddenly got a lot worse. I removed the trim panel from the boot allowing access to the tank and am sure the smell is coming from the right hand...
