    Electrical issues

Check the battery connections are good under the rear seat. A poor connection will kill everything without warning . If they are OK check the main battery cable connections under the bonnet.

    Ignition Switch won’t stop Engine

I wonder if there is enough current through the bulb to hold the coil contacts closed with the ignition off . Try switching the ignition off , leaving the engine running and pull off the black earth wire on the relay to see if it stops the engine .

    Replacing the speedometer cable

2BA (British Association) is the spanner size ( 0.324"/ 8.23mm AF) , or use a small adjustable from the tool tray. Its a common size on small fixings on old Rovers . One of the first open ended spanners I bought nearly 60 years ago & still going strong.

I worked for the BL/ROVER/Land Rover company for 38 years , many during the changeover from Imperial to SI units and it took years especially on old designs. I have found that the manuals often developed rounding errors between inches and mm , especially when they may cover 20 yrs of...

    Wheel alignment

The old Dunlop gauges available at the time ( 1960s/70's ) use the wheel rim flange as the datum and the rover spec. is based on that, ie the wheel diameter not the tyre. The department I worked in had its own Workshop when I worked for BL ie inc. Rover and the toe was always checked at the...

    Wiring diagram errors?

Surely the tacho on vehicles up to Suffix D/C uses current sensing & needs the ignition wire to loop to the tacho. & back whereas the Suffix E/D onwards is voltage sensed & just needs a single feed to it from the coil .

LED HEADLIGHTS, my limted experience so far

A lot of modern cars for the UK now have vertical dip lamps so I dont think dip left is now a requirement. . In fact you could get vertical dip BPF bulbs back in the 1960's , MOD used them a lot, saved them changing when in Germany etc.
