Thanks Guys. I'm loving the photos of your projects. It shows me that it is indeed possible to repair this given time, effort and practice. They'll also be useful for reference
Although the car has been sat for 18 months and the battery had gone flat I charged the battery and she did start...
I've started with the off side only to start with.
I found a patch put on by a previous owner which had just been stuck over the rust using what appears to be silicone sealant (it wasn't even welded on!) and covered with copious amounts of underseal. I had been driving around blissfully unaware...
So three years later.... Repairs have been slower getting started than I would have liked.
I took the Rover off the road about 2 years ago as i found a rust hole. I spent about a year trying to get someone with some welding experience to help me to no avail. At the beginning of this year i...
Hi All,
Some ne'er-do-well has vandalised my beloved P6 and snapped off both my wing mirrors and stolen them. I am looking for some serviceable replacements. They were the chrome type that mount toward the front of the wings and not up near the doors. If anyone has some spare then please...
Thanks for the advice!
The good news is she did pass her MOT the other day, so am pretty confident the safety areas are sorted (touch wood). I will be focusing more on the cosmetic work for now and will leave structural stuff to the guys at the garage. It's more of a tidy up on a budget I'm...
Hi.
Could someone point me in the direction of a good 'how to' guide for bodywork repairs. I have tried TV shows like car sos but they always seem to gloss over so much. My Rover is starting to look sorry for herself with cracking/flaking paintwork on the bonnet and rust holes in the wings. I...
I just spotted two Rover P6 Estates on the M5 near Worcester. Anyone in here? They looked fantastic. Someone should be very proud. Photo to follow later.
I have tested my seatbelts by travelling down the road and pulling on the belt whilst braking. The mechanism works fine and catches even at a fairly modest deceleration. It gives me peace of mind that if anything unfortunate does happen I should be protected.
I just had the exact same comment from my MOT tester about my seat belts. I have just had them apart and sure enough they have a weight on a pendulum which causes them to lock when the car is under deceleration (hopefully). They gave me a ticket anyway. I will have to point out this thread next...
Looks like you were right about the clutch. While I was taking the side plate off I noticed the top stud for the clutch cylinder had come undone meaning the cylinder could move away from the bulkhead by about a cm. I've done it back up. I will have to see if this solves the not going into gear...
It's the engine side plate looking down from the top. Sorry the picture is too big to be clear. I have just managed to remove one stud by super glueing the three nuts to the stud.... Now i just need to do the same with the other :D
Hi,
I am still having trouble removing the studs from the engine side plate. I've tried locking two and even three nuts together but the studs still wont budge. I've taken a photo. Is there anything I may be missing? Thyanks.
