This is on the Nullabor Plain between Perth and Adelaide in Australia. The road is 1675 km long so a charging station or two are required. They will be replaced by solar charge points when the right technology for the area becomes available.

    Australian Rove 2018

    HS6 carburettors pipe Q:---

On the late Australian cars fitted with HIF carbs there are two charcoal canisters on on each inner wing the carbs are connected to them. This is part of the Australian Design Riles requirements for the exhaust emission controls along with the 8.5 compression engines.

    odd interior

This car was UK built and taken to Western Australia so it must have been re-trimmed when it was changed from white to red. Only automatics were built at Nelson for the Australasian market.

A Guide To Front Spring Removal And Refitment

Hi Ron, Thanks for that information, I will now proceed with more confidence, both cars are NZ assembled ones so I guess it's possible that they put some sealer around them in Nelson. Bruce

A Guide To Front Spring Removal And Refitment

Thanks for your replies. I can't see any shims like the ones in your photos Ron, just the stuffed looking washers between the brackets and the body. The same on both the cars I have here. I'm going to replace the top link bushes and feel that when the washers are disturbed they will be useless...

A Guide To Front Spring Removal And Refitment

Can anyone supply or have the dimensions of the packing washers that go between the front suspension top bush brackets and the body. Original part number looks like it was 620033 also what are they made from? I have two cars and neither have any camber shims that I can see, but the packing...

    Lubrication Specifications

I have just purchased another P6B and riveted to the front panel above the headlamps is this plate. Obviously placed there by Faulls who were the state distributors of Rover here in Perth, Western Australia. After all the data in the manuals of the time about only using non Dexron fluid in the...

    leaking radiator from plastic plug.

If your car is a New Zealand assembled unit the radiator was a locally made component to reach the highest possible local content regulations. It will be a National Radiators unit and they used the same plug on all the radiators they made be it for Ford, Rootes, BMC. Triumph Jaguar Vauxhall...

    Finally the project is underway.

Another month gone by and little progress has been made on the car. I had a good hard look at the ball joint and steering boots and decided they needed replacing while the brakes were off the car. A wise decision as the lower ball joints are well past their use by date, didn't seem to be any...

    Non operative wiper.

I stumbled across this item and wonder why it says that wiper motors can only work when they want to on power steering equipped vehicles. Can anyone elaborate and what is the fix. Two guesses why I want to know the answer. ELECTRICS An alternator was fitted to all P6s apart from most pre...

    mystery plastic pipe found

This plastic pipe is the breather from the tank to the charcoal canister on the right hand side of the engine. They are part of the emission controls fitted to the late Australian spec cars with the 8.5:1 comp engines. The one on my car has a strong petrol smell when disconnected from the canister.

    Finally the project is underway.

All ready to replace the servo and calipers now they are back from the brake specialist. Looking nice and shiny with their new paint job. The new pads are here as well so hopefully we will have working brakes again very soon.

    Finally the project is underway.

Thank you to all those who offered advice on how to undo the stubborn nut. Today it finally gave up the battle and came off, interestingly the size did depend on which pair of flats the spanner was offered up to and Harvey was correct when the 15/16" finally went on and a short time later the...

    Finally the project is underway.

Went out and bought a selection of large spanners but still no luck. the 15/16 is small and 1" is loose. The cage is still on both the nut we have removed and the one still on the car. As the right side one came undone easily I beginning to suspect the left one is sized in the caliper. My...

    Finally the project is underway.

A progress report. The left front window is finally back in and working correctly. Not an easy job getting the old regulator out and I ended up having to cut the arms to remove the unit from the frame. After fitting the new lift channel came the problem of getting the assembly back into the...

    paint code

Hi Peter, the number 455330312E is the chassis number. HP2124376 is an internal Nelson factory code and is 2124th unit assembled there 376 is build date of March 1976. The NZ cars had their paint code on a paper label which never lasted very long. The factory reds were Pimento Red or Bitter...

If your car is a New Zealand assembled one, which most sold in Australia in that period were, it would not have had a vinyl roof cover.

    Finally the project is underway.

I finally removed the left front window and found that the glass channel is rusted badly like the right rear one was, so I'm about to order the two front and the left rear. As postage from the UK is so expensive I decided I'd check and see what else I require to make a decent order. I had been...

    Finally the project is underway.

Happy new year to you John. I have managed to get the window down, but not far enough to get to those pesky screws. I tapped the sliding part of the regulator and it moved the glass. This front regulator is in one piece but the shaft that the handle goes onto just revolves and has lost all...

    Finally the project is underway.

Happy new year to everyone. My problem is that the glass is fully up and the regulator is no longer working so I can't lower the glass to gain access to the screws. I might have to try and hacksaw the arms of the regulator to free the glass.

    Finally the project is underway.

At last the rear door window is back in the car and working correctly. Time to look at the left front window, which is firmly in the up position and the regulator is totally past it's use by date. I have a new regulator from Winns, but I wonder if anyone can offer advice as to how to lower the...
