    Bonnet rethink

Vern, indeed, the standard latch seems to be just adequate, but, you can't have the bonnet really tight between the 2 steadies and the latch, because it's made from alluminium, and after a point you 're just bending your bonnet into a smilling face. So even when everything is as it should, the...

    Bonnet rethink

I am also concerned on the flimsy looking bonnet lock on the P6 Rovers. It is exactly the same item as used in Minis, even my 1100 has a significantly larger locking pin and lock. Now if you compare the size and weight of a Mini bonnet with a P6 item, it all seems ridiculous. Even at moderate...

    Getting back on the road

Indeed, havind to deal with the cross head screws while removing and refiting the seats can be a pain. Usually i prefer to undo the nuts that hold the seats to the runners, take out the seats and leave the runners themselves in place.

    Autotest - Rover 2000 TC

Period test in Germany of an early 2000 TC. I didn't understand a word, but i did enjoy it.

    Rear Fog lights

It's more common than you think. Rover R8 rear light units combine the reflectors with the tail lights as well.

    Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone. As the first day of the new year, i managed a short ride in my Rover along with the family, while visiting the in-laws. :)

    Breaking up 1965 2000 SC

As far as i know, the remote solenoid for the intertia starter is not Rover P6 specific, it looks as if it is a standard Lucas item, therefore not hard to find even new now.

    Front caliper upgrades

I have just replaced calipers and discs, but my minilight replica wheels don't have the same offset with the standard rims, so i cannot be sure if there are any clearence issues with your Rostyles.

Brake lights not working - nor brain! – Solved!!!

I confirm that a relay will help a switch that needs higher than usual pressure to turn on the brake lights, to return to normal operation.

Lower link arm (left hand side) for V8

I might have dreamt about it, but i thought there were casting marks LH and RH somewhere on the rod.

    Getting back on the road

Not quite... In 1927 Smiths Industries purchased Jaeger, so they are in fact the same company at the period we are looking at.

    Brake fluid level switch.

I have a synthetic cork in mine too, that i forgot when i had it fitted. It is certainly more than 10 years in there, so it is not affected by brake fluid.

    Getting back on the road

Now that you mentioned it, i also had a coil that died when driving / reving hard. At that time i put it down to conicidence as i could not offer any other explanation, but perhaps i am missing something. Regarding your misfire i agree that the next logical step is to rebuilt the fuel pump and...

    electric fuel pump??

This thread is on the 4 cyl engines, so i pressume that the OP is refering to the 4 cyl engines, not V8. As far as i know the mechanical fuel pump on 2000s and 2200s don't give any problems at all, so why should anyone replace a reliable mechanical pump with an electric one? When necessary...

    2200TC Project

I would never imagine removing the engine with the carbs still in place. Since you would have drained the coolant anyway, it is a 10 minute job to take them off with the manifold.

My '72 P6 V8 is back in use on UK roads and once again wearing its silver on black 'K' plates!

Now that you mention this, i also had a half-clutch-hydraulics failure last Sunday, when i took my TC for a drive in the mountains. It seems as though the clutch master piston could not return fully home, so i lost enough clutch travel to not allow for a clean disengagement. I returned home by...

    Getting back on the road

Exactly. After all those years and neglected linkages, i think that very few drivers have the chance to experience how good was the gearchange when it was as Rover intended.

    Getting back on the road

I have slipped a piece of snug fitting plastic hose over the stricker tip. When the car was in everyday use i didn't expect it to last for ages and i (sort of...) treated it as a consumable every few years. With the current use, i expect it to last forever. However, the biggest gearchange...

    Ignition Switch won’t stop Engine

Do you have a balast ignition? If yes, then there is an additional feed to the coil from the starter. This should be live only when the starter operates, but perhaps in your case this is not connected correctly, or it is touching another live line.

Remember when we thought a P6 was a normal sized car?

Size is one thing for sure. In Europe the P6 was a large (ish) in its days... What i can't for the life of me understand is how someone that doesn't need a pick-up truck, uses a pick-up truck as a daily. I grew up when pick-up trucks were used mainly by farmers, because, you know, they actually...
