Water leak at fuel filler grommet ?

Ah, my apologies... I've been working on US made helicopters for too long... Cotter pin = split pin. This type of thing, you could probably make up a one-off use tool, too.

Water leak at fuel filler grommet ?

then, you may need to twist harder.... :) A cotter pin remover should be able to get in between the pipe and the stem to loosen things off a bit for you.

    Getting there

Yes, Basil Green Perana V8 Capri were hot ships. We also did the XR8 Sierra and 3 liter Alfa GTV6 among others.. The 6 pot Marinas were uniquely us, too. That same engine ended up in our Military Land Rovers, called the R6...

    Getting there

A favourite trick in SA was fitting the V8 Ford donks to the old Cortina pickups. Made them hop, but they never had much inspiration in the handling department, even with the 3L V6 in them, the V8s must have been scary.

    Finally a tidy 3500S!

I don't recall what the installation looks like, but that groove around the part suggests that there may be a way to pull it off/out instead of cutting it. Would that make it reusable? I know it's only 24 Quid, but if you're stuck, you're stuck...

    Engine dimension specs ?

If you're unsure you can use Plastigauge to check the actual dimensions with the cap in place. That will allow you to determine which manual is correct.

    Curious SU part - 607800

It looks to me that any lost motion could be down to wear between the part 607798 it locates or the slot through AUD4239 where the butterfly shaft passes through. It looks like a simple top-hat bushing, so a chunk of nylon in a lathe should allow you to knock one up pretty easily. If the slot...

    Lt77 conversion requirements

I'm trying to cast my mind back to when I did my LT77 swap, and the release bearing was a short one, if my memory serves. The plastic and steel ones are for the Land Rovers, if I understand correctly. I did my Disco 2 clutch last year and there were a plastic and aluminium sleeved bearing...

    Odd bolts

Hang onto them, or at least one of them, they make handy thread chasing tools.

    Mid-life crisis!

Enjoy the Alfa! South Africa did some crazy things with Alfas, the GTV6 3.0 being the maddest of them.

    Ruskie the 3500s

Get a bolt with the correct thread and stick it in your vise. Cut the bolt lengthways at an angle to create a flute in the bolt shank, turn it 2 flats and repeat for a quick and easy thread chaser.

    Good bye old girl

Sad to hear you have parted ways with the P6, I was hoping to pick your brains about a few things when my "Roundtuit" arrived for me to dig mine out the garage and start fixing her up.

    Pulley sizes

So, slightly underdriven. This bloke's problem is that he has fitted a truck water pump with an adapter he made, and it runs close to 100C on the road. On the track, it was fine due to the speeds he was doing, but now, he wants to go back on the road as a daily driver.....

    Pulley sizes

Does anybody have the crank and water pump pulley sizes for the 3.5 engine to hand please? Is the pump equal, underdriven or overdriven relative to the crankshaft?
