    Coolant Expansion Tank

View of my set up from a Land Rover, even adapted the L R mounting bracket. System works well, new 15lb rad cap - no fluid loss over 12 months and easy to see fluid level when cap removed (when engine cold obviously)

Electronic Ignition You do not mention in above post what model you have , 4 cylinder or 8 ? I can only comment on my experience of trying to go "pointless" on my own car. I "trial" fitted a electronic ignition kit to my early (suffix A) 3500S with the early type (triangular)base plate within...

    Car history (help required)

Nick - what a lovely bit of history ! That advertisement was pre my time at the establishment, and only Rover mentioned - assumes the Austin/Morris & Land Rover franchises came later. The Rover Car Company sponsored the excellent exhaust extraction system in the workshop, there was a Rover...

    Car history (help required)

I forgot to add a correction to the initial post. To my knowledge Gavin Fairfax Ltd never held a Jaguar dealership, although we did work on them. Dealership was "ROVER, Land Rover, Triumph, Morris & Austin"

    Car history (help required)

Mandb, Hi Martin, Yes as Nick Dunning so rightly says the site where Gavin Fairfax Ltd once stood was developed some years ago, I cannot tell you exactly when, but it was a VERY valuable site for some property developer to exploit, being situated next to Virginia Water railway station (the rear...

Why do people do things like this.

How I agree with you Ron.. My girl is from The Labrador Rescue Trust previous owners wanted rid once the puppy stage had passed and she was fully grown. My constant loyal companion and loves stretching out across the back seats of my 3500S (on her own seat protecting rug of course !) Tried...

    A P6 In India?

I dont know about Rover dealership networks or import quantities etc but my ex-company shipping agent in Madras had a P6 2000 auto, which with it being an auto and I think it was air conditioned , it always seemed very sluggish. It was a pleasant change from seeing the millions of Hindustan...

    Rear discs

Engineering company explanation = they have nil stock - price to deter purchasers until stocks arrive - keeps e.Bay listing "live" I guess. There has to be a less confusing way of saying "we have run out of these ".....please wait until price returns to normal

    V8 top link bushes

That is great news, I was under the same impression as you Chris, my top link bushes have been grunting for a few years now, dont seem to have got much worse since I first started to hear them after cornering round Silverstones` GP circuit on the 1998 Guardian RAC Classic Rally, have a picture...

How do I remove stuck pulley from alternator

Never had a problem with them. Usually fairly robustly grip the pulley in the jaws a vice (fit soft jaws if you have them), hand support the alternator then a smart smack with a copper/hide Thor type hammer, I have never had to resort to applying a bit of heat to the the pulley ( oxy or blow...

V8 front suspension bottom stabiliser arms

Glen, JRW have the LH (595740)in stock - not cheap at £110 GBP, there is no mention of RH (595741) on their stock lists - so you would be best advised to give them a ring to find out availability. https://www.jrwadhams.co.uk/index.asp

    Classic Car Rescue........

As an informative programme by channel 5 its an absolute waste of time, devoid of any obvious expertise, showed nothing worthwhile "actually" being done by people in the programme, and as for doing the paint job before sorting the mechanicals - just showed what they do not know about...
