flame trap

I have finally gotten the engine all together and running again (haven't gotten the carbs tuned yet) but I noticed my engine dosent have flame traps on it and I'm having a hard time finding somewhere in NZ that sells them Will I be ok to drive the car for awhile without flame traps? Or am I...
