1969 4.8l turbo.

It's been up a couple of times. I think there's a thread on here somewhere about it too.

Good luck to the seller, but it has the potential to be a difficult car for someone to own.

I humbly volunteer to look after it for anybody faint hearted who can however cover the asking price and subsequent maintenance costs.

I think I'll pass, it'd be in a hedge within the hour with me at the wheel. Nice piece of engineering though.

Not really my cup of tea tbh :cuppa:

I wonder what diff he's got under there?

Interesting bit of engineering though, all the pipes seem to fit ok :)

I don't mean to disparage it, but it does remind me a bit of a Johnny Cash record from the 70's

"The headlights they were another sight, we had one on the left and 2 on the right, but when we pulled out the switch all three of them come on."

Hi, The diff was my first thought. For me the large diameter wheels and rubber band tyres look doesn't work on the P6, just as I was wondering about doing similar. Oh well, that's more money saved.;)

Standard diff and half shafts. Mr Toulmin assures us he has yet to break anything there. Despite his best efforts!

Blimey, wouldn't mind taking it down the strip at Santa Pod :) but knowing my luck I would tear it to bits

Yes I saw/replied to him on Facebook
about that. I think they’ve been very lucky there, he said plenty of burnouts...on the open diff they would have been disappointing one leggers though :p
I can’t remember their best 1/4 mile time but thought it wasn’t quite as good as it should be for a blown built 4.8 and reasonably light car

If he indeed managed to break traction evenly across the back axle, could that go some way to explain how his input and output shafts have seemingly survived the abuse?
It seems crazy that so many output shafts have sheared in low speed manoeuvring, but aggressive breaking of traction at the dragstrip hasn’t affected his..

Yup true
I am not about to experiment with that one, no sir.

My little 289 Cobra with open diff will do nice even black lines, and its relevance here is that it is Rover powered :)
