Provisionally for sale.
It's with a heavy heart that I'm advertising my Rover 827 for sale. It is a lovely, genuine car, with a very low mileage of just 39,800 miles, though this is rising, and will likely be 40,000 very soon. It had one very long term owner from 1990, until 2011, and since then has had a few owners, with me being the most recent. It passed its MOT in late January, with no advisories, and is taxed until the end of September.
There is a substantial wad of receipts for the car, as well as a service book filled with Rover stamps, all at the same dealer. The car comes with its origina supplying dealer numberplates, sticker, service sticker, and all of the Rover security stickers in place.
The car's exterior is in very good condition, with a lovely paint finish, and excellent panel gaps. The glass is all original, and the car has a set of four matching wheel trims in place. However, as the car had an elderly owner for many years, the exterior is not perfect. The bumpers have scuffs on their extremities, as appears to be the norm with all 800s, and there is a scratch in the passenger side rear quarter. The sills are absolutely perfect, and all body colour, with absolutely no evidence of paint there. The underside is superb, particularly for a car of its age. One rear arch has a few bubbles, and, if I were keeping it, I'd certainly be attending to that this year, as the rest of the car is so nice.
The interior is in excellent order, as you'd expect from a car with such a low mileage. The wood has a few cracks in the varnish, on the main dash, but other than that, the trim is excellent. The seats are in fantastic condition, and the car smells exceptionally clean, and fresh! The original radio is in place too. One of the rear seatbelts has been replaced by a Securior one, including the belt, and clasp.
Mechanically, the car is lovely. The engine is exceptionally smooth, and isn't tappety like some 2.7s. The gearbox is smooth, and selects all of its ratios with ease. Unlike the majority of 827s, this one has a fantastic handbrake which will hold it on all inclines with no problems! The brakes are smooth and progressive, and there are no unpleasant clonks of bangs from the suspension.
The exhaust was fine in January, but there is a slight blow from the back box, though it's still very refined. Overall, it drives very well indeed.

If you have any questions at all, please do ask, as I want to give the most honest appraisal that I can, of this exceptionally rare, and, original Rover 827. It's certainly not perfect, but, it is a marvellous car, with concours potential, given a bit of spending.
A rare opportunity to own an interesting, and appreciating classic, for just £1350 though I'd rather the car went to a true enthusiast, and thus, I am open to offers. The car will come with a boot filled with spares too.
£1350 ONO

Should say that I'm prepared to do a particularly reasonable price for any forum members, as it's really an example for an enthusiast.

I will also add, that I'll happily collect interested parties from Dumfries, or Lockerbie station. Also, I am prepared to deliver the car for the cost of fuel, plus a train ticket home, within a 150 mile radius.

would love this but no space... and the 75 is too good on fuel to replace at the moment....

For those who are interested this is one of the best out there - I had a good up close look before Frazzle got his mits on it. It really is superb...

Rich

Thanks Rich! It really is one of the best 800s that I've ever seen. As I say, just a few little bumper scuffs, and a scratch in the rear quarter, and someone's got an impeccable example. It's far too nice to be run into the ground by someone with no interest in cars, which is why it's only advertised on Rover forums, and classic car sites. :D

I keep looking at this car, and if my Ford Moneypit was not on its way to the painters after running seriously over budget at the metal bashers I would be on it like a shot. Good luck with the sale Fraser, someone's going to get a bargain.

John.

Thanks very much, John! I'm going to leave it advertised on Rover forums for the rest of the week, and pop it on ebay, as a classified ad, if no sale by the time I head back to uni. Good luck with the Ford project! :D

Thanks John! Well, as I say, I'm prepared to do a good deal for CRF members, as it's a car for an enthusiast. :)

Such a long way away from down here in soft southern Sussex. It would be a very practical replacement for the Atomic Kitten. If only you were a bit nearer!

Come, come Neil. A little distance like that shouldn't stay your hand. I'm sure Fraser would be very accommodating regarding travel expenses to ensure his car stays in the fold.

And you'd have a very enjoyable drive back down to sunny Sussex.

I would gladly deliver the car anywhere in the UK, for the cost of fuel, and a train ticket home, and I'm willing to do a good deal, for a forum member, as it's definitely a car for someone with an interest in older Rovers.

I've had quite a few enquiries from non-enthusiasts, but would rather it went to a Rover person. If you're interested do get in touch.
