Hi,

Not that far from me and maybe not a mad notion either. Recently the MSA has restricted the number of cylinders a car can have for “Lane events” or Targa Rallies to a paltry 4 so we have been at a bit of a loss as to what to do with our car.

I’m told the 2200TC can be nearly as quick as the V8 and can be, I assume, made even quicker though traditional tuning methods, I know next to nothing about the 4 pot cars. What would it take to TC this?

Thanks, Tim

i dont know too much but i believe you would need head, carbs and manifold and exhaust manifold.
I appoligise if i'm wrong but sure someone else will be along to clarify.

Hi,

Can these things be got? Or are they like hens teeth?

Tim

PS Just thinking at the moment, haven't approached the subject with Gavin yet!!

Are you talking about converting the V8 car to a 2200?

Hi,

Don't really, simplest way would be to take our Jag back end, our front suspension (springs, dampers etc..) and fit them to a 4 cylinder car then get as much go as we could muster from the 4 pot engine. I guess the starting point for this would be converting the SC engine to TC spec. This may well come to nothing as we love the V8ness that much and we've already got a plan moving for more V8 goodness :)

Might look at the car anyway.

Thanks, Tim

If you're planning it that way then make sure you buy a 2200, as the 2000 rear suspension is different. 2.2's have the same basic set-up as the V8.

A 2.2 can be bored to about 2250cc, the head could be gas flowed, and the cam could be reprofiled. I don't think that you would ever get to the point where the carbs (HIF's) and exhaust manifold would restrict the power.

Hi,

There really isn't a plan at the moment, just a reaction to seeing this locally to me. If the MSA hadn't introduced this silly 4 cylinder rule we wouldn't be at a bit of a loss as to what to do with the V8 car. If the rule had been in place when we started this project we probably wouldn't have chosen a 4 cylinder P6 as our weapon, the V8 swung it at the start. So really don't know where to go with these thoughts at the moment, just thinking out aloud.

Thanks for the input,

Tim
