3500S manual - is there a gasket between main gearbox case and top?

is there a gasket between the 2 halves of the case and its top (594263)? or do i need to smear with instant gasket? or just leave as bare metal to metal?

No mention of any gasket or sealant on the top cover in the WSM.

There isn't a gasket, and they can be assembled dry.
