A few months back a neighbour completed on his house sale and his son was clearing out the garage. 10pm. He was trying to haul out his dad's 1972 Almond P6 that had been in there untouched for 10 years. I remembered seeing it but had assumed it had been sold. Anyway, it was to go on sale and sit in another lockup until then. However brakes were seized, non runner at that particular moment I offered my driveway for short term storage. The neighbour weighed up the financial considerations and said " You can have it if you want? ". I said yes. The problem was now mine.
There car was bought new in Teddington, around the corner, by a chap that used it to get to Strawberry Hill golf club, around another corner. Hence the mileage.
New battery and all the electrics worked. It had a new exhaust 10 years ago, new tyres and needless to say it's original Radiomobile.
Recon calipers at the front, new oil, filters, plugs and belts and pipes. Runs like a dream, like a sewing machine. And get this, when it arrived on my drive it had 2/3 of a tankful of ten year old petrol in it. That's what it started on and that's what it's still running on now.
FYI, when I was at college in Liverpool ( I live in London ), I had a ropey 2200TC that I'd rebuilt during the summer hols, this was 27 years ago. I had that for 15 years then it was replaced with a sweet 3500 auto. In between I've had a P5B Coupe and a P5B Saloon, the latter which was bought for £50, £25 more than the asking price ( I felt guilty as all it had was a leaky heater hose that the owner thought was terminal).
So the story continues. It's about to pass it's MOT and embark upon a slowish smooth slug over to Cornwall, 250 miles away. For the weekend.
Let's see how we get on.

Welcome to the forum! Talk about being in the right place at the right time - would love to see some pics of the car and it's journey to cornwall!

Hello , welcome , nice story . Good luck with the mot and the trip . I'd be tempted to get rid of that old fuel and flush it out though !

Ok, next time. 600 x 600 @ 72dpi recommended? At least you can see the unwelded beauty of this P6, in the key places.

Well stina, I'm kind of wanting to see how well it runs on it's old juice. It's part of my adventure. I have motorbikes and boats that wont start after the fuel has been left in for a month! So this is a revelation. I'll dilute it with fresh fuel after a hundred miles and do a redex jobbie on it. I'll do a story on the trip too. Pics and words.

my 2000 was off the road for 9years before i purchased it and with a recharge of the battery it fired into life and drove to my its new home 16miles away with just a few engine stalls due to a corroded rotor arm. It still has the same battery now and has never gone flat.

ok, got it sussed, there's no auto conversion on here so sorry for the mega files. here are some more of the 2000 as it was unearthed

And for those that want to see it sensibly or use as a template for a restorer..........ie, I've got the hang of it now.

I believe Tobacco Leaf is the most fantastic colour for these cars. Yours looks fantastic by the way. It was the colour of my first 2200TC.

Hello and welcome mister p, think you will find stina car is also almond and Dave herts2000 was asking for pics in its currant condition after you have given it a wash etc, looks like lady luck was shining on you there, what a nice thing to happen. Look forward to hearing and seeing more :D

i meant have you got any pictures of the car as it is now?

Indeed sir, a bit of before and after never hurt anybody!!!!

I also have the original bill of sale and handover document.

I would never change it from original, stays almond.......Stina's is Tobacco Leaf surely.

My first 2200TC was Tobacco and my last 3500 was Almond.

Still fancy a Zircon blue 3500 on an "L" '72 plate, auto with black leather and spare wheel kit. Been a dream of mine since I was 6 or 7 when my father came back from a walk with my younger brother and said they'd seen one around the corner.......they were new then!!!!!!

I can see how Stina's car is almond, from the shot under the trees in takes on a tobacco hue but if you say it's Almond then I can certainly see how it can be.
