5 speed install and off to the painters !

Lookin' good! I'm intrigued by the itsy bitsy little hole in the bonnet. Big scoop, small hole!?!? What's your induction set-up going to be?

The hole is small at the moment as I do not have any firm plans for induction setup. So rather than cut a huge hole that just acted as a rain scoop I cut a starter hole that I can enlarge and baffle later.
It is possible that the engine will end up with a piped cold air feed from the front, I just don't know yet.

This is awesome! If this was Retrorides you'd probably have been awarded one million mega-fonzies by now :)

Thanks (I think) I'll try a mega-fonzie but just one for now.
So SWMBO said you have got to get those wheels off and put the proper ones back on, so I did and fitted the door handles and locks, and got the bonnet to fit and shut nicely.
I have to take all the doors and wings off again to fit the new rubber door to wing seals which are all ready to go, so a few hours fun there !

Thanks chaps
Have been working on the offside today. Put on new window wiper rubbers and had both doors off and front wing to fit new rubber seals. Re fitted door seals, fuzzies and tread plates. Rear wing off tomorrow to fit seal and light unit.
Was dreading the wiper rubbers but I remembered a trick a windscreen fitter showed me using moisturiser, makes things nice and slippy !!

I moved the car outside today to take some pics for the insurance. It is mostly fitted up now, there are some small panel adjustments needed.

I fitted a new electronic programmable speedo to make calibration easy for the 5 speed and any future tyre changes

I have the decals all ready to go, so that is the next job on the list.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: wicked! Really like that rear end, all smoothed out and de-badged with no number plate plinth. Aren't you going to have to add some sort of reflectors though? What if any exterior mirror(s) are you going to use? Are the sheetmetal front spoilers going to be road legal?
Did you keep the packaging and paperwork that came with the programmable speedo? If yes, could you have a look-see if the thing has a TÜV certification? Does it illuminate green at night? Sorry to bombard you with questions mate. ;)

Again Thanks all.
Peter, the blue saga has played out in previous posts, it was taken from a tin of blue brake caliper paint.
Mr Task
Reflectors are to be added, not seen a final design I like yet.
Door mirrors are to be repro Raydot Racing mirrors.
If the MOT man does not object to the front spoilers they will stay.
The speedo is from Speedy Cables, the Eclipse range, ordered with black bezel and white needle, illumination can be any colour with filters. Call them to ask about TUV

Eclipse Gauges

Nothing was cut to fit it, it is 80mm dia. I wrapped tape around the body until it was a snug fit in the circuit board then made some 5mm thick O rings to seal the gap between the bezel and the aperture in the original black facia.
I had bought a transducer for an SD1 from Rimmer but alas it was dud, so I had to make a chopper wheel and mount it on a cable drive at the gear box then mount a speedo sensor to look at the wheel, bit of a faff but it works well.
Oh the other thing, the Eclipse has a trip and set button on the glass, but this is behind the Rover glass so I ordered a trip button on a fly lead and have the button on the little removable trim panel on the right of the gauges, it all looks factory.

Great info on fitting the programmable speedometer, many thanks.
Can you use red retro-reflective sticker material, or does one have to use an actual plastic reflector with a safety kite mark? I mean the stuff they use for road signs. Then you could cut the shape you like the most, and stick them on wherever you think it would look best.
Hope you've got a friendly MOT tester. ;)
