Wow. Been a while since I've seen a bodge that made me laugh that hard!

Surprised the car hasn't gone up in flames..

So am I but it seems to be holding at the moment but won’t last forever I checked the pipe size against 8mm copper but the copper is bigger looks like it might be closer to 6mm but prob imperial tried different suplier but pipe out of stock

Contact the specialist suppliers that dismantle cars and sell good used parts from them, and buy a secondhand pipe and float bowl top, and fit them.

Wins International and MGBD would be good places to start, or maybe post a Wanted ad on here as someone may have those parts lying around looking for a new home.
Tried wins and mgbd out of stock found copper pipe which will hopefully fit at pump and float chamber but the chamber end needs the fitting on the cover to adapt onto the pipe and if I pull it apart ant the adapter is goosed so am I and the car lol
will try in the wanted section see what comes up
thanks for your advice

Copper is not a good idea. With the carbs being flexibly mounted, the copper pipe will crack sooner or later unless you put a strain relief loop in and a loop will be a a magnet for vapour lock. At the very least, you need a short flexible section.

My guess from the picture is that the pipe is actually fine, assuming you can clean the goop off, and it's the float cover that needs replacement.

Couple of possible units for you

Firstly this one, you may have to tap the unions off the pipes and fit your unions with new olives if the ones on there don't fit.
SU HS Carburettor Double Entry Float Chamber Lid, AUD9253 | eBay

Secondly this one, you may need to blank off the breather stub
Classic SU HS4 HS6 Carburettor Float Bowl Lid AUE275 Rover Morris Triumph MG | eBay

Olives - check size of pipe !
Brass Olives. 1/4". Compression. Pipe fitting. Plumbing. Pack of 5 *Top Quality! 5056290255274 | eBay

Or contact Burlen fuel systems and ask if they have a lid to your spec.

From the look of the fluid on the ally baffle below, something is leaking at the joint. My guess would be there is a problem with the olive, or the parts that are supposed to sealon it. Worst case you could, after removing all the current bits, remove the olive, and use ordinary rubber fuel hose to connect to the bowl cap (unless that is the source of the problem?).Then the problem is connecting a hose to the pump. At the low pressure used by SUs, rubber hose wont be a problem.

When I bought the car I thought that myself but it’s whatever was used to seal the connection (areldite I think) I can feel a slight weep at the joint so I’m trying to source the pipe from th pump to the float chamber and a replacement head for the float “ chips “ thinks he might have them he will let me know if he has them ( fingers crossed )

The nylon piping used originally is VERY difficult to work with in terms of fitting your own ends, or refitting ends. softening, fitting and re-sealing is a problem.

the problem is getting the pipe to the temperature req to soften to slip over the ends and then if it has softened to much it won’t shrink enough to seal on the ends I don’t think immersing it in boiling water would do it

I re-used the original olives when I made up a new nylon pipe from reserve changeover tap to pump (the old pipe had kinked), because I needed to use the car the next day so had no time to buy new ones to fit the new nylon pipe I had bought. I placed each olive in the chuck of an electric drill, spun it quite slowly, and gently pushed the pipe through the spinning olive to give the right protrusion beyond the olive. Worked perfectly.
