AED versus Choke Conversion

On my rebuilt V8 engine I have it in mind to keep the AED for originality instead of doing a choke “upgrade” to the HS6. It was working, albeit with an aftermarket isolation needle valve in line. Do I need a mental health review if I proceed with this plan? Are there any odds that a serviced AED is really viable? I understand there are certain perishables that can’t be serviced. Indeed Joe Curto SU Guru won’t guarantee a service. Actually I was going to rip all the SU stuff off and put an Edelbrock manifold on there but I veered 180 degrees and went to a super stock approach instead. I really am looking for someone to say everything will / might be fine..........

Yes, I did have the HIF in mind as a Plan B, although project cost escalation is a factor that cut the research short. I was not too sure what else needs to change to finagle the HIFs on.

If you have the late shorter kickdown cable and bracket then as far as I remember nothing needs changing apart from the carbs and manifold. (Obviously you will need the linkages between the carbs but they should come with if you buy the lot as a unit).

When my P5B was rebuilt many moons ago, the first thing my mate did was to remove 'that block of flats' & replace it with a split manual set-up cobbled together from a TR7 (or ⅞?). It has given up the ghost a bit now so sooner or later Harvey will get round to fitting the Hif6's l have for her.
After l get round to not giving him other cars to fix of course.

Seems like there were a few versions of these, and plenty of vitriol is on show within jag forums as it was more widely implemented with seemingly universally horrible results. At the point where you have two isolation valves to contain the bugger an independent observer may question the sanity of that approach. As indeed am I. Still not ruled out 100% though......
