After 20 years a P6 again finally a V8 automatic. With work that is.....

There is variation in bonnet badges, here are a few images of various original ones.
Thanks for the info Graeme, my original is the first of your pics, the one I was sent is the third so it now sits on my bookshelf and I refurbished the original

Seems to be a variety of OEM ones (Silver without waves and Gold with) but it gets a bit hard to tell as there are a lot of aftermarket copies about though fortunately most a crap and easy to spot as not original.

I have been trying to get a few originals so that I can use them as samples to get a proper run of new ones made (indistinguishable to the OEM), both bonnet and boot.

Ok it has been a while I have been on holiday with my old yamaha xs1 to Noirway ..... great fun! But now the Rover again.
The engine starts. The coil was bad. so another coil fitted and the engines starts!!
Al brakes have been renewed now but the master cilinder and the servo are to be reconditioned..... waiting for parts now. New doorcards have been made and fitted. Great difference:

Prachtig Pepijn!

Phil,
you mean the fact that the parts were structually sound besides the surface rust? Because they are sandblasted and powdercoated since removal.

Last weekend I managed to take one manifold out because thats were the exhaust leaked. With removal i found out no gaskets were used just siliconekit........
Also trhe attachment of the downpipes were shot so I made new inserts with my new helicoil kit. I purchased the kit especially for this. But it worked rather well:
I also ordered some gaskets of course.

Next sunday I will continue with the Rover. I also hope to get the studs for the manifold. The previous owner used bolts to assemble the downpipes. Previous owner used a lot of metric bolts in the original threads so I need to "rethread" a lot!! My helicoil kit is unfortantely also metric. But my other vehicles are mostly metric thats why I bought the metric kit.
I figured that the exhaust bolts main task is to hold everything in place not to be pretty..... No one knows they are non original metric ones.....

hmmm that makes me wonder why they leaked.... I will try to assemble them with the gaskets I think to see if that cures the problem. I coul hear the leak bu I couldn't really actually see the leak.....

Beware it is very easy to fit the gaskets wrongly and block off a quarter of the port, they fit both ways round, and only one way will give you a full open hole.

really???????? I did not know that!!!!! I was hoping to fix the leaking manifold by placing these gaskets......
Well learned something again!!!
Check the manifold face for straightness and the condition of the face. A straight, clean face will not leak.

Which helicoil kit did you buy? Do you have a link?

Cheers
