And another MOT failure, now passed!

Last friday my ´64 P6 failed its MOT for the first time in 5 years
First just before it went into the service bay the indicators stopped working (they were fine on the way to the MOT station). It turned out to be a bad connection at the fuse which I could easily repair.
The MOT went fine until the last item they checked, the rear wheel bearings. The right hand side made to much noise. So no MOT and work for me to do before the MOT runs out on the 8th of October.
Also it will be his 50th birthday on 16th of October so it must have an MOT then!

Re: And another MOT failure

This weekend I have replaced the rear wheel bearing. What a terrible job
I have changed wheel bearings on Mini´s, Maxi´s, Allegro´s, etc but never had the strange construction Rover designed. The make it look easy in the workshop manual but you have to put a lot of force on the drive shaft nut to compress the collapsible spacer and I did not manage this in a vice, so had to do it on the car. But then you can not make an acurate measurement of the amount of load on the bearing.
Next thursday it is MOT time again and I hope it is oké now....

Hooray, the P6 passed his MOT, only one day late :D .
Next MOT in october 2016.
