Any one used the Frost Por-15 fuel tank refurb sealer kit, I think mine has peeled away :-(

My fuel tank was understandably rusty inside due to the car standing out side for long periods unused before I bought it.

So tank out & stripped, purchased the Frost refurb kit and followed the instructions to a T to end with a nice fresh coating all over the inside of the tank, this was in January 2021. Car was back on the road in Feb this yr & has now covered some 370 miles.

Came home the other day & literally as I pulled up the car stopped, Huco pump very quiet, just got it back in the garage to see hardly any fuel in the filter and only running on about 4 pots due to this. Disconnected the pump fuel lines and it ticked away nicely, so I'm thinking the POR-15 coating has come away from the inside of the tank & blocked both main/reserve outlets / pipes on the sender inside the tank. Tried two spare electric pumps & same issue but also I tried small jerry can sat on the slam panel with a feed straight in the Huco pump but not much better, this I thought would have worked but possibly all three pumps have now sediment of the sealer in them as my fuel filter is between the pump & carbs as factory set up. Has anyone else had any issues like this with POR-15 sealer?

Cheers Damian.

Yes I’ve used it on my Morris 8. It came away in sheets even though I did my best efforts to prep the tank with all the other products. Won’t use sealer again….

Panic over, l drained the tank & the fuel is clear, no flaking sealer at all, was a sticky piston in the LH carb, all sorted n back on all 8 pots! Sorry to hear you had issues Herbie, very annoying indeed.
