April yellow v8

Scrap value. This one is too far gone I'd say and not really any nice parts either. Shame April yellow is the rarest UK V8 colour. Or is that Sage Green?

Hard to believe that unit is so buggered yet the grills and front badge are near mint. You'd get 100 quid for the grill emblem in that condition.

Rear seats look ok, hood lining looks ok. Probably not worth all that much more than it's current price.

This one was the one I looked at near Marlbrough last year.

Totally rotten rear end behind valence, and sills, only for the VERY brave or insane to restore the base unit.
Was informed a buyer from Cheshire bought the Rover 90? and others from the site without seeing them.
imho he paid double what it was worth in parts at the time.

Thanks for all the background info. It's interesting to know that that the current vendor paid £623 for it. I've been to look at the car and yes, the rear valence is in a real state and could well make it terminal however I had a really good look over the car and I reckon it's do-able. Inner sills behind carpets were in great order, bulkhead solid, rear upper link to base unit as new, box sections under the back seat were as they left the factory, outer d posts rot free, inner wings and hockey sticks good and the badly holed cover sill revealed a good outer sill on the off side. Front near Side jacking point looked dubious though. All outer steel panels are scrap really. Before I was are of his £623 purchase price, I made the guy what I thought was a fair offer of £650 for it, and the spares car. The offer was immediately declined. The spares car has very good panels but has had the trasmission tunnel cut out and engine/box removed. Based on it being a rare colour, 1 owner series 1 v8 (which seem to be attracting good prices) I just wonder if it's viable? I've got a garage full of spares, can weld, can do all the mechanical work and I can do the respray too. I've done full retorations on many a p6 over the years so I quite fancy it as I've got most of the parts, it just needs time. Or am I mad?!

I live to be proven wrong on these things, another car on the road which most mere mortals would run a mile from is always a plus.

Are S1 V8 prices so high? Not that I have a vested interest of course....

I don't know what S1s are worth comparatively - they are rare compared to S2s.

Would actually be interested to know what people think sleipnir is worth. Not the best condition car but serviceable... and the second oldest production s1 v8 left....

When I first owned a P6 in 1989 (an S2) I saw a very fine S1 V8 in Arden around Plymouth. Since then I've never seen an S1 V8 on the road in actual use other than in the context of a car show or going to/from a show apart from my own.

As mine is LHD as well, I doubt we're very far into double figures with this demographic. Would be interesting to know how many S1 V8s there are in the UK. As for this car, most April yellow cars I've seen (recent pictures of) were NADA models. I have no idea how many ORIGINAL April yellow RHD cars there are today but I doubt you need more than one hand to count them, maybe only a couple of fingers. There are possibly more which gained a light yellow/primrose colour than actual, original cars....

The absolutely bizarrest thing was on my first ever drive with my P6 I passed another (S2 V8) going the opposite direction. What are the chances of that in 2014 in Switzerland?

I've never seen another S1 driving about in the wild. Definitely none with big alloys on ;) Couple of S2s around that I see every so often.
