ballast resister

Hi folks .. recently attempted to take my 3500 p6 to winter storage .. THE BEAST started up and off we went (so far so good) 400yds later engine cuts out and refuses to re-start ... GEM recovery called out , but their mechanic did not even attempt to find the fault, just uplifted THE BEAST and took us the journey of 400 yds HOME !!! The only thing odd that I can see is that the wire from the ballast resister seems to go 'nowhere' , just no connection to anything . would this be a problem .. if it is a broken wire .. where should it go ? I presume one side of the coil .. But , what side ..
Thank you guys .

If its as I remember, the ballast wire joins with another White/yellow to plus side of the coil and white/ black( to contact breaker ) on the minus side.

There is no ballast resistor they have a ressistor wire. That device your talking about is probably an old noise suppresser that was used to stop radio interference from the coil. You do not need this doesn’t affect the running of the car.
