Baseline settings needed for 2200TC

Hi everyone,

car isnt running too well at the minute. Dont think its anything too fatal however before troubleshooting/trying to fix anything id like to get it set up to the correct 'baseline'.

Would you guys be able to give me the correct settings for the things below for a 1976 2200TC?

Points gap?
Carb settings?
Valve clearances?

Is there anything obvious missing from the above? Ignition timing? Valve timing? Please include these if you think so :)

Also ive managed to have a compression test done, however im not too sure how accurate the results will be given the above items havent been set up right yet. But they came out at 105psi for all four cylinders. Is this worryingly low?

(please excuse my shocking lack of technical savvy. A friend is going to do the necessary work and has asked me to find out the details before he gets started)

Thanks in advance,

Craig.

Points gap 15 thou
Plug gap 25 thou
Valve clearance inlet 8-10 thou, exh 13-15, stone cold
timing 8 degrees BTDC
Carb settings need to be done after all the above are set correctly.

Those compression readings are very low. Did you do the test with all the plugs out, the throttle wide open, and a healthy battery?

I'd second Harvey's comment that compression is very low. If you're having rough running and low compression I would strongly suspect that the valve clearances have closed up over the years. The problem being that its easy to check the clearances but a right pain to reset, so people leave them. I've seen cars with no clearance whatsoever on some valves. Even if they are not too far out the P6 four cylinder engine will run pretty poorly. If they run with no clearance they do tend to burn exhaust valves.
