Boot Badge removal

Yes, probably a silly question, but as I don't have an owners manual, but I have a replacement touring kit boot badge...how do you remove the old one? It moves freely about 5 degrees either way from outside, is it meant to pop off from the outside? Don't wish to ham-fist anything
 
there should be a cut out hole beneath the badge assembly in the boot lid liner. Someone has replaced the liner and not cut in the hole. Frustrating yes!!

That's just what must have happened, also, when they repainted the boot, the orientation of the retaining clip thing was one hole out in rotation. so It took a while until it made sense! The old badge was missing the logo etc, so didn't matter which way around it went back on! As they say, every 5 minute job?......an hour bastard!
 
You'll be glad of that locking ring. When I had my first car someone stole the "V8" badge and I caught someone else in a car park "playing" with the boot mount kit badge....
 
To be honest, loving the car, only bought her in October last year unexpectedly. Drove it 950km home after a long storage....made it ok, but all the problems have arisen since, which is fine, as we have time to sort. Job list is up to 35 so far, and cracking through them, many big ones!
