Boot light

Hi All,

The boot light does not work on the car, and having checked it there is no wiring from the switch to the lamp.

Where does this missing wire go?

The switch is the earth, so there should be a live supply to the lamp, and then a wire from the lamp to the switch. OPening the boot allows the switch plunger to move out, make the earth, and put the light on.

It's quite possible the wire is there but disconnected and stuffed back into the base unit. It runs from the lamp to the switch through a double walled section of the base unit in the corner. In the picture, the wire to the switch is disconnected and falling straight down. It could be tucked into the hole just to the right of where it comes out of the harness. The other pic shows the two wires from the lamp going away towards the corner of the car.

Yours
Vern

oops. The picture show up sideways. Down is to the right, Right is up

By the way, when you're sorting this out, you might find it useful to add a manual switch in addition to the button. Then you can leave the boot open while working on the car without worrying about the lamp overheating or draining the battery.

And there's me just pulling the wire off the switch......

I got fed up with fumbling in the dark trying to plug it back in again after forgetting I'd done that!

I stuck an LED bulb in there , now I can leave the boot open and forget about flattening the battery - and the light is brighter and won't burn mark the lens cover .
I can actually see how much crap I carry around in there .[my car lives in a dark shed] .
Did you know ALMOND glows in the dark - like phosphorus - Joe King . Ive just had a double hit coffee .It really gives me motormouth
