Bouncing speedometer

hi
I'm sure you guys out there have discussed this before, but I'm a new to the v8 and am trying to sort minor niggles so bear with me. I have changed my speedometer which was fitted when I bought the car as it apparently was from a 2000. The replacement is steady up to about 40mph then starts bouncing. I have tried more than one secondhand replacement and they all seemed to bounce. Could it be the cable.
Thanks
Mike

Hi, It could well be, check its routing to make sure there are no sharp turns or mounting clips too tight because it tends to restrict its rotation. Pull the inner out from the speedo end to check for kinks or shiny spots where its been rubbing, clean and re lubricate. Also check the angle drives, they should be free turning.

There are a couple of reasons, first and most likely is the right angle drive on the speedo, try lubricating it until it runs freely, second yes it could be the cable, try lubricating it first, last the right angle drive on the box. as prevoius.
