Brake fluid loss

I will be doing 3 weeks furlough in a couple of weeks and was thinking of renewing brake caliper seals etc but this afternoon I noticed the brake fluid is a bit low and there is signs of fluid on the trim above brake pedal, after reading on here it appears it could be the master cylinder so I'm defo doing brakes subject to being able to get the parts.

Good news if you do MC and the wheel calliper's , you will only have to bleed once, with a bit of luck!

Just had another look and I think it may be the steering box as it is wet at the bottom and the oil in the car smells more like gear oil than brake fluid.
I have topped the box up and it needed quiet a bit as for the brake fluid I can't be sure if it has lost any so topped it up ( only a tiny amount needed) and will keep an eye on both.
