BW35 Fitted Bolts and Torque Convertor Bolts

Hi, Rebuilding a 68 2000SC Auto. Gearbox and Engine have been out of the car for about 9 months. In the last stages of getting everything organised to put it back in in the next few weeks

2 Questions.
1. Are there only two fitted bolts that are fitted at about 4 and 10 o'clock?
2. Are the torque converter bolts suppose to have a short shank on them. The four bolts that look like they are about the right size (been in a bag with the GB mount bolts for 9 months) don't look original? I don't expect it would matter to much but I'd be interested if originals are closer tolerance? Picture of one the bolts attached. You can see a little bit of damage on the threads near the head.

If you mean the dowel bolts, then yes there are only two. They must go in from the engine side.

I can't remember exactly what they should look like (even though I replaced many damaged flexplates), but the bolts and washers don't look quite right to me either.

Thanks Harvey, I did mean dowel bolts. The term fitted bolts is used when we are fabricating a repair for a machine (I'm a maintenance engineer). We clamp and drill through two sections of plate, tap the thread into the lower section and ream the top section before fitting a close tolerance shoulder bolt. Results in perfect alignment.

I should be able to do better re the torque converter bolts. Will drop in at the specialist supplier tomorrow

Rover called them fitting bolts, and I've always called them fitted myself. But I actually think dowel bolt is a little more descriptive of what it does.

Spent the day doing some fitting work. Could get torque converter bolts with a perfect length (short) shank but could not get the over all length required. Cut them down to length and ground/filed them square with a slight chamfer. Neat job if I say so myself. There appears to be a bit of damage on the flex plate that matches the damage on the thread. No cracking and the doublers on the back of the flex plate appears to be undamaged.

Look so nice it will be a shame to get it dirty.
