Bw35 torque converter removal

I've got the engine and auto box out of my 1970 v8, for a number of jobs but the next is the crank rear rope seal. The 'box and engine are separated and I've removed the 4 bolts that secure the torque converter to the flexi plate. I assumed it would just slide off but it won't budge and I don't want to force it. Am I missing something?

The convertor spigot can become corroded into the crank spigot.
Try to hold the engine from rotating and then rotate the convertor to free it off.
If you try to lever the convertor off you risk bending the crank spigot on the convertor.
