BW65 questions about leaking oil.

hi there.
My BW65 is still leaking oil after installing for the 3rd time a new cork gasket to the pan, after previously installing a super duper rubber one that was supposed to be the bees knee. Well the thicken plotterns........read on.
Today upon further inspection I discovered that oil was leaking from the cross shaft , behind the inhibitor switch, on the passenger side, the other side of the shaft is operated by the gear-stick change leaver. Then finding its way to the rear of the pan, this being the lowest part of the gearbox.
Q: how do I change the seal behind all the switch gear on the cross-shaft, the other side has a small weep as well, so I guess 2 seals of some type will need attention?
over to you Harvey.....:)

The inhibitor switch comes off and the seal is behind it, IIRC it's the same type of lipseal as used on the BW35, the other side is just an "O" ring but you need to remove the servo cover to fit it. If it is the same as the BW35 seal they can be difficult to fit so buy more than one, and on the other side there is a seal for the servo cover as well as the one for the shaft, and it may be worth getting the servo piston seals as well in case they get damaged during the process.

Hi there,
Thank you Harvey for the reply.
Can all these actions be done in situ, with the oil still in the box ? and how do I find the part numbers or identification for the various seals needed?

Access is limited but it can be done without removing the box. I would drain the fluid anyway as it's just a matter of removing the dipstick. Just remember that cleanliness is essential. Powerwashing the box before you start might be a good idea.

Although that illustration doesn't appear to show the cross shaft and hence the seal in the servo cover, they should be able to supply it.
