car rollers

After spending weeks welding the sill on my 216 I have been reminded how horrible upside down welding is.

I have seen the rotisserie chassis rollers which are great but I was reminded of the rollers which bolt on to the hubs.

Has anyone used these? It would have been great for the 216 but how would these work on a P6 ? I always thought our suspension would make it unsuitable.

Any comments? I will be doing some p6 welding at somepoint and this might suit my needs.

I keep hinting at my neighbour to sell me his garage so I can knock through and have the space to use one of these properly. so far the only answer I have got has ended in off lol.

Sorry to drag this up,
I have one I bought from a German company doing the classic cars shows about 10 years ago, not used it recently but I used it to tip my P6 on its side, both ways over time, for completely stripping the floor, doing some sill replacement work etc, I even changed the rear pads with the car on its side, a doddle!
I did it with the engine out, since mine was out at the moment anyway, no reason not to do it in place, you may want to drain some of the fluids first.
My only near disaster was when doing some of the welding and the gearbox tunnel carpet caught fire, was the only piece of interior still fitted, and as I still had the doors on couldn't initially get inside with my fire extinguisher!
Since finishing my car I have lent it to 2 other friends who have used it on mid-engine golf and BMW CSL.
I do not remember any problems regarding the suspension set-up.
