Car security general question

Hello, I suppose this may be the best section to ask ( please move if not) but what does everyone here use for security?
At present I have 'Club' style steering wheel lock but can anyone recommend anything better?
I would perhaps invest in a clamp of some sort but I would look forward to hearing anyone's reviews or experiences with both internal and external security systems.
For a series one Rover P6 , by the way.

Thanks!

I use an isolator on the battery in the locked boot.

This wouldn't stop a car being stolen to order but it kills the chance of a spur of the moment theft.

I have been known to leave my doors unlocked in some very dodgy postcodes (i.e. ones that begin with L and M) so as to lessen the risk of damage if someone really wants to have a look.

Leave the mother-in-law in it, put the fear of god into any one who tries to steal it and as an added bonus some one just might be stupid enough to steal it.

Remove the HT lead, and keep the keys to the gun locker next to the bed in case the garage alarm goes off in the middle of the night :)

I have an isolator on the battery, but to be honest only ever use it if I'm away somewhere for the night. When local there is no security as such, it's one of them things I will get around to do, hopefully not to late.
Other thing I do is remove the rotor arm and refit the dizzy cap.

I have a few things on Sparky, but to be honest, the best idea is not to tell everyone on a public forum what they are

Even worse, tell everyone that you don't have any at all!

Just my thoughts

Richard :)

Picture of the kids on the dashboard scares off all but the completely mad or fearless.

Years ago, my cousin's boyfriend had a rotary Mazda that he never locked at all. Despite their popularity at the
time, it never got broken into or nicked.
Probably because his Great Dane took up the back seat, most of the time.....

I use one of these .
Hand brake on and in "park" . Fits most cars .
More of a visual deterrent as it can be seen from outside the car .. As long as the invader doesn't work out the gear knob unscrews

we had one of those locks on a car that was stolen. They just knocked the pin out with a hammer...

I have a battery isolator switch in the same setup as Ethelred. If you fabricate a small bracket and bolt it to the earth point of the body, you can arrange the switch so that it pokes out of one of the holes on the battery lid - very neat solution.

I also have a traditional steering crook lock, but the steering wheel is a visible deterrent, and the battery isolator is for safety when working on it/leaving it for a while. I actually have another 'immobiliser' system that I devised which makes it impossible to start the car with a battery unless you follow a convoluted process that only I know. If you don't there's no spark and no cranking...

I never had any problem with George on the seat.

A neighbour of mine used to run older W123 Mercedes estates (very nice too!). He also never locked the doors, but went out one morning to find the radio stolen..... & broken glass from the door window

To put it another way, if the mother-in-law is in it, some good might actually come of having your P6 stolen. But does anybody actually steal P6s?

Poor old George isn't with us anymore. The new dog is even softer than he was but weighs nine stone and no many would take the risk I think.

I used. A simple switch in ignition circuit. Or removed rotor arm. On my rover it came with a hidden cutoff switch..if only I can get car to run ..lol

isolator on the battery in the locked boot sounds good and or some form of krooklok I guess, good reading this
